Proposal process

  • Only autoconfirmed users can submit, vote on, and comment on proposals.
  • Users can submit proposals at any time, though discussing on a talk page or the Discord server and gauging other people's interest is encouraged before doing so.
  • When a proposal is made, users have two weeks to cast their votes and comments, ending at midnight UTC. If a proposal starts on 14 June 2026 at 14:50 UTC, then it ends on 28 June 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
  • When a proposal reaches its deadline, one of three things happens:
    • If one option has a simple majority of votes, and at least three votes, that option is accepted.
    • If multiple options are tied for the majority, or no option has at least three votes, then the proposal deadline is extended for another week.
    • If the proposal does not reach a consensus after the deadline has been extended, the proposal is closed and no action is taken.
  • Administrators reserve the right to cancel a proposal at any time if they deem it detrimental or unenforceable.
  • If a proposal is accepted, it cannot be overturned by another proposal until at least two weeks (336 hours) have passed.

Proposal guidelines

  • Proposals are expected to describe the exact changes to be made in as much detail as possible, leaving no room for ambiguity.
  • Proposals must have at least two options, and one of the options must be keeping the status quo (e.g. "do nothing" or "oppose").
  • The title of the proposal should clearly indicate what its general purpose is. Details should be saved for the body of the proposal.
  • Joke proposals are not allowed. You can be a little flippant, like giving your proposal's title a silly pun or wordplay, as long as the proposal is otherwise clear and genuine.
  • Unless there is clear disagreement over the subject, proposals should not be about creating, expanding, rewriting, or fixing existing articles.
  • Proposals cannot be made about user promotion or demotion.

Voting guidelines

You can add a vote to a proposal option by adding a line under its heading beginning with #, followed by your reasoning, then your signature (without the timestamp). An example of this in wikitext looks like:

# Per proposal. ~~~

# formats your vote as part of a numbered list. When the page is saved, ~~~ is automatically replaced with your signature.

  • All votes must give a clear reason for why you agree or disagree with a proposal option. You can also say "per proposal" or "per <user>" to agree with an existing reason.
  • If a proposal has more than two options, users may vote for more than one option. Voting for all options is not allowed and your votes will be removed if you do so.
  • The creator of a proposal can vote on their own proposals and doesn't need to give a reason for their vote (assuming the proposal body adequately explains why the proposer is making the proposal in the first place).
  • You can add or change votes at any time, but you must explain why. If you want to retract a vote, you must cross it out (with <s></s>) to mark that it should not be counted while still allowing other users to read it.
