Experience (often abbreviated as XP) is a game mechanic in the Bloons TD series and Bloons Card Storm that raises the player's level.

Mechanics

Bloons TD 4

edit

Each layer popped in Bloons TD 4 awards one experience. Unlike BTD6, rounds themselves award no experience, so experience is solely from bloon pops.

Bloons TD 6

edit

Each round in Bloons TD 6 gives a fixed amount of XP. Unlike BTD5, it is not dependent on the number of Bloons popped. For each round r, the total XP earned is determined by this formula:

XP={20rfor r2040(r20)+420for 21r5090(r50)+1620for r>50

This formula is the same as Hero XP and tower XP before any freeplay or Monkey Knowledge modifiers. Like Hero and player XP, the amount of XP earned is multiplied on higher map difficulties: ×1.1 on Intermediate, ×1.2 on Advanced, and ×1.3 on Expert. Entering freeplay mode reduces XP gained by 70% up to round 100, then by 90% on rounds 101 and on.

Bloons Monkey City

Experience in Bloons Monkey City is earned by capturing tiles,[fn 1] constructing buildings, performing research, and completing quests. Experience increases the player's City Level, which unlocks more buildings, research, and other features.

In the Flash version, demolishing a building removes the total XP the building provides and converts it to XP debt. In the multiplatform version, demolishing a building adds its base XP to the total XP required to reach the next level, but it does not factor in XP gained from Resource Building upgrades.[fn 2]

Footnotes

edit
  1. In the mobile version, there is a bug where successfully defending a MvM attack can grant XP despite not capturing the tile. The cause is currently unknown.
  2. This allows XP to be gained infinitely by constructing a Resource Building, completing an upgrade on that building, then demolishing it.
