Description
• Gravelord Lych drains buffs from your Monkeys, healing itself in the process.
• When each skull on its health bar is reached, Lych goes ethereal, resurrecting the empty shells of recently popped MOAB class Bloons.
• When ethereal, Lych cannot be damaged until all resurrected Bloons have been popped, including the life-draining Lych-soul Bloon.
• Resurrected MOAB class Bloons do not spawn children.

Lych, titled The Gravelord, is a Boss Bloon in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 28.0. It is the second boss introduced to the game and the first one that isn't returning from a previous game in the series.

Lych has the Regrow property, restoring a small amount of health in nine-second intervals. Attacks that strip Regrow or deal extra damage to Regrow Bloons apply to Lych. Lych periodically casts a shockwave that removes certain kinds of buffs from towers, restoring its Regrow property. The first time Regrow is restored, the healing has a one-time three-second interval before health is restored. For the most part, it can only absorb temporary buffs such as Berserker Brew or Overclock and ignores passive buffs such as the Monkey Village's buffs or Come On Everybody! Come On Everybody!, though there are exceptions. It also cannot steal buffs provided by Heroes (including Geraldo's Shop items), Powers, or map-specific mechanics, but can steal Paragon buffs. It also reduces sell value of all towers by 35% when it is on screen. Lych will also periodically spawns Tombstones on the track that can be targeted or ignored. They block any pierce and will spawn undead MOABs that increase in tier over time if not destroyed. Towers set to Strong targeting prioritize Tombstones over Lych. Whenever its health reaches a skull, it enters an ethereal and invulnerable state, resurrects childless MOAB-Class Bloons, and spawns Lych-souls that summon more undead MOABs. Lych remains invulnerable until the player pops all the Bloons it spawns.

Every 9 seconds, Lych heals itself. It takes additional damage from attacks that deal bonus damage to Regrow and its Regrow properties can be removed from attacks that strip Regrow.

Buff absorbing

Every 12 seconds, Lych emits an aura that absorbs certain kinds of buffs from towers around it. At tiers 1-4 the aura has a radius of 100 distance units normally (the same size as Quincy's Storm of Arrows), but at tier 5 it has infinite range. It cannot trigger this ability while in its ethereal state, but the timer continues while it is ethereal, so it will activate immediately upon returning to normal if it's ready. Lych restores its Regrow property, and every tower that has a buff absorbed is stunned for 5 seconds afterwards in addition to losing the buff.

For the most part, Lych can only absorb temporary buffs, such as Berserker Brew, Overclock, and Call to Arms, while ignoring passive buffs such as Jungle Drums, Shinobi Tactics, and Carrier Flagship. Additionally, it cannot steal buffs provided by the following:

Note that there are some buffs that do not have icons that Lych is able to absorb, such as Turbo Charge's attack speed buff, Emergency Unlock's swivel speed buff, and Smart Spikes's attack speed buff at the start of each round. It can also steal Permanent Brew and Ultraboost buffs, despite them being permanent.

Skulls

Every time a skull on its health bar is reached, Lych summons several Lych-souls and enters an ethereal state.

Lych-soul

Main article: Lych-soul

The Lych-soul is a smaller and faster version of Lych. 3 Lych-souls are spawned at each skull on Normal and 5 on Elite. While it is alive, it moves at 23 units/s (0.92× Red Bloon speed) and spawns Resurrected MOABs. It has most properties of a Boss Bloon: it instantly defeats the player if it leaks, it is immune to insta-kill abilities and attacks, and is affected by extra Boss damage from towers that have it. It is immune to most slowing or stunning effects, but is affected by Glaive Dominus.

Ethereal state

When a skull is reached, Lych enters an ethereal state. During this time, Lych cannot be targeted and is invulnerable to all sources of damage. Lych does not absorb buffs during this time, but is still healed by selling towers. The ethereal state last until all Lych-souls are destroyed.

Resurrected MOABs

These resurrected Bloons are much stronger and faster than the normal versions, and do not spawn children when popped. If a MOAB-Class Bloon was a child of another MOAB-Class Bloon, its highest-tier parent within that time takes priority. Resurrected Bloons have the same properties as their non-resurrected counterparts.

Resurrected Bloons appear with green chains wrapped around them.

Selling

When Lych is on screen it reduces the sell value of all towers by 35%.

In the console version

Lych's mechanics are different in the console version due to it being based on an older version of the game.

Buff absorbing

Lych heals a percentage of its maximum health for each buff it absorbs (2% per buff on normal, 4% on elite), and every tower that has a buff absorbed is stunned for 5 seconds afterwards in addition to losing the buff.

Each time the player sells a tower, Lych restores 1% of its maximum health plus 1% for each tier of upgrade it has on its most upgraded path. For example, selling a 0-3-0 Dart Monkey, 1-3-0 Dart Monkey, and 2-3-0 Dart Monkey will all restore 4% of its health. Selling sub-towers is considered the same as selling an unupgraded tower, so those will also restore 1% of its maximum health (including sub-towers of towers with higher tier upgrades, such as Sentry Champion and Master Builder). Sacrificing a tower with a Temple, Adora, or Paragon does not count as selling.

Skulls

Every time a skull on its health bar is reached, several behaviours occur: Lych summons one Lych-soul, resurrects childless MOAB-Class Bloons popped in the last 20 seconds, and enters an ethereal state.

Lych-soul

The Lych-soul is a smaller and faster version of Lych which spawns at Lych's position when a skull is reached. While it is alive, it moves at 23 units/s (0.92× Red Bloon speed) it will drain lives from the player every 4 seconds; this can defeat the player if they do not have enough lives remaining. It has most properties of a Boss Bloon: it instantly defeats the player if it leaks, it is immune to insta-kill abilities and attacks, and is affected by extra Boss damage from towers that have it. It is immune to most slowing or stunning effects, but is affected by Glaive Dominus.

Resurrected MOAB class bloons

When a skull is reached, Lych will resurrect any non-Boss MOAB-Class Bloons, with exception of BADs, that were popped in the last 20 seconds. Resurrected MOAB class bloons[1] visually have green chains wrapped around themselves, and are much stronger and faster than the normal versions, but do not spawn children when popped. If a MOAB-Class Bloon was a child of another MOAB-Class Bloon, its highest-tier parent within that time takes priority. Resurrected MOAB class bloons have the same properties as their non-resurrected counterparts.

Ethereal state

When a skull is reached, Lych enters an ethereal state. During this time, Lych cannot be targeted and is invulnerable to all sources of damage. Lych does not absorb buffs during this time, but is still healed by selling towers. The ethereal state lasts for 6 seconds, or until the Lych-soul and all resurrected MOAB class bloons are popped, whichever is longer.
