Ray of Doom is the Dartling Gunner's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. It fires a larger constant laserbeam with 35 damage (instead of 1 and +10 MOAB-class damage), +55 bonus damage to the first target, 1000 pierce, and changes its damage type to Unstoppable. The shock damage bonus and damage-over-time are both increased (20 instead of 1, and level 4 instead of 3). The laserbeam no longer extends until the Dartling Gunner's target, instead continuing on indefinitely until it hits an obstacle or exits the map.
With Powerful Darts, the first-hit damage applies up to 3 targets instead of 1.

Ray of Doom is not particularly powerful, because the other Tier 5 Dartlings are better against both singular targets or cleanup. However, its incredible pierce and instant targeting makes it not unusable for its high cost.
5-2-0 is usually preferred, because the bonus shock damage is more impactful overall for maximizing damage than simply adding two extra targets on the first-hit bonus via 5-0-2.

Dartling has always had a decent presence in the meta, however it’s also always had some subpar upgrades, such as Laser Cannon and Ray of Doom. [...] The Ray of Doom change has been made to provide a general buff to the upgrade and also to even out the crosspaths for it. Previously, it barely benefitted from the bottom path crosspaths since the beam already has high pierce, whereas the middle path crosspaths were massively more enticing, providing faster attack speed and camo detection. This Ray of Doom change offers the interesting possibility of xx2 now being the stronger crosspath when dealing with certain scenarios, such as defending multiple BADs.
