Signal Flare is the Mortar Monkey's path 3 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. It adds a new wider explosion that removes the Camo property of any Bloon, including DDTs, that it hits, dealing zero damage. The Mortar also gains camo detection. This secondary explosion has 55 pierce and 50 radius (70 radius with 1-0-3, but no extra pierce).

Signal Flare is a consistent decamo especially when it has sufficient attack speed. However, it can still be pierce-capped by Tight rushes, since the decamo does not filter non-Camos.
There is no point in 1-0-3 crosspath's bigger blasts when 0-2-3 usually suffices for decamo at a focused spot, being far more consistent.

Mortar Monkey has not really been affected by any recent nerfs, still remaining very strong and only seeing a drop in usage due to Etienne offering an exciting alternative. Therefore we think that it’s justified to make some significant nerfs to Mortar’s early game, as it’s been a top tier tower for quite a few updates now.

The randomness of the Mortar has never been popular and the xx1 upgrade has often felt like a tax to remove RNG than an upgrade in its own right. The new Dynamic Targeting upgrade will hopefully give interesting crosspath options to the other upgrades, allowing the Mortar to easily focus fire on strong MOABs or maximise the impact of stunning by automatically aiming for the densest cluster of bloons. Manual targeting will likely still remain the most consistent option for effects like Signal Flare and Burny Stuff that just want to hit every bloon once.
