Tower Banana Farm — Path 2 — Tier 5
Cost $45,000

Monkey-Nomics is the Banana Farm's path 2 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. It increases the bank capacity from $18,000 to $30,000. IMF Loan ability no longer grants debt of $15,000 while making the same amount of cash. The Monkey-Nomics ability carries over the cooldown of its previous upgrade and always has a minimum initial cooldown of 30 seconds, and an ability cooldown of 40 seconds. Like IMF loan, the amount of granted money cannot be increased with buffs.

With Greater Production, the end-of-round cash bonus compared to 2-4-0 IMF loan is increased from $700 to $1000, while other crosspaths remain identical to Monkey Bank.

The editor who added this notice elaborates: farming curve changed a lot since imf nerf and carry-over nerf into nomics directly
This section was last updated for: version 4.9

Monkey-Nomics is the go-to T5 Farm to aim for, in a normal game best at about R21-22 with optimal farming. It gives a steady flow of cash particularly during slow rounds, unlike all of the other Farms which are round-based. Use an IMF start combined with BRFs and then proceed to sell Farms and buy the Nomics upgrade.

Crosspaths for Monkey-Nomics depend on the situation. 2-5-0 is the preferred crosspath if wanting to maximize the stored income. However, the 0-5-1 does allow Monkey-Nomics to be afforded sooner, which is preferred if pursuing only the ability, in addition to 0-5-2 if the extra sellback is necessary.

  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $200 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Extra cash per round increased ― $300 → $400
  • Buff Interest increased ― 15% → 20%
[W]e have improved the Bank so that it can fill up earlier, since this upgrade does not get used and the long fill time is one major reason for this.
— Update notes
  • Buff Ability: cooldown reduced ― 60s → 50s
  • Nerf Ability: initial cooldown increased ― 20s → 25s
  • Buff End of round income (pre-interest) increased ― $400 → $550
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $200 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)

Version 4.3.1 (OTA update 1)

EZ Collect has never been a very valuable upgrade, particularly for desktop players or those using Banana Farmers where the collection radius isn't important. Quality Soil means that a 3/4/502 farm now has similar efficiency to a 3/4/520 farm. The former is cheaper and generates less cash, while the latter is more expensive and generates more.
— Update notes
  • Buff Now has the visual effect when full without the 0-3-1 crosspath
The Monkey Bank benefited a little too much from the introduction of Quality Soil. These changes are intended to keep the strength of the Monkey Bank when combined with the top path while nerfing the bottom crosspath.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Ability: initial cooldown increased ― 25s → 30s
  • Nerf End of round income reduced ― $550 → $450
1-5-0
  • Buff End of round income increased ― $450 → $500
2-5-0
  • Buff End of round income increased ― $500 → $550
We are buffing the monkey bank top crosspath to make it a more tempting option when compared to the bottom crosspath and Quality Soil.
— Update notes
2-5-0
  • Buff End of round bonus cash increased ― $550 → $1000
The IMF Loan was proving to be a bit too good of a deal so we have reduced the amount it lends and also decreased the capacity of the bank.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Ability: cash gain reduced ― $20,000 → $15,000 (undocumented)
Monkeynomics is underperforming after the x4x IMF Loan nerf. This should bring it back in line with how it was pre nerf.
— Update notes
  • Buff Ability cooldown decreased ― 50s → 40s
    • Note: Initial cooldown remains 30s
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $100 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)

Version 4.12 (OTA update 1)

  • Nerf Overall cost increased by $450 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
