Sentry Expert is the Engineer Monkey's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. It produces four different types of Sentries that each have a different attack. It can spawn Crushing Sentries, Boom Sentries, Cold Sentries, and Energy Sentries, and it spawns them in that order by default, but it can prioritize or skip Sentries depending on what Bloons are currently on-screen.
When first upgraded to Sentry Expert, it instantly spawns four of these Sentries around its range.
Sentries
[edit | edit source]Usually, the Sentry Expert spawns Crushing, Boom, Cold, and Energy Sentries in that order. However, some sentries are skipped if certain Bloons appear on screen, and conversely some sentries are prioritized.
Sentries get the following benefits from crosspathing:
- Larger Service Area increases the Sentries' range by +4.
- Deconstruction allows the Sentries to deal +1 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons and +1 damage to Fortified Bloons (+2 in total to Fortified MOAB-Class).
- Oversize Nails increases the Sentries' pierce by 25% from the base amount, rounded up.
- Pin allows the Sentries to stun Bloons for 1 second (including the Cold Sentry).
| Type | Always prioritized against | Prioritized against | Skipped against | Always skipped against |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crushing Sentry | Ceramic Bloons | Black Bloons, White Bloons | Lead Bloon | |
| Boom Sentry | Lead Bloons, White Bloons | Black Bloons | ||
| Cold Sentry | Lead Bloons, Black Bloons | White Bloons | ||
| Energy Sentry | Black Bloons, White Bloons | Lead Bloons | Purple Bloons |
Crushing Sentry
[edit | edit source]
The Crushing Sentry fires spiked balls every 1.1 seconds that can bounce off blockers, similarly to Spike-o-pult; however, they'll not rehit Bloons after bouncing off obstacles. Each spiked ball can pop up to 16 Bloons per shot (20 with Oversize Nails). It deals 2 damage, +1 to Ceramic Bloons, and have the Sharp damage type (cannot pop Frozen Bloons or Lead Bloons).
Boom Sentry
[edit | edit source]
The Boom Sentry fires bombs every 0.9 seconds that explode on contact. Its explosion has 18 radius, dealing 2 damage and can pop up to 30 Bloons (38 with Oversize Nails). Explosions pop frozen Bloons and Lead Bloons, but not Black Bloons.
Cold Sentry
[edit | edit source]
The Cold Sentry fires ice bombs every 1.5 seconds that explode on contact, similar to Cryo Cannon. Its explosion has 12 radius, dealing 1 damage and freezes up to 15 Bloons (19 with Oversize Nails) for 1.5 seconds, and inflicts Permafrost (50% slowdown for infinite duration). Both the freeze and Permafrost effects soak up to 2 layers. It does not damage or freeze White Bloons, Lead Bloons, frozen Bloons, or MOAB-Class Bloons, and will never target MOAB-class Bloons.
Energy Sentry
[edit | edit source]
The Energy Sentry fires lasers every 0.57 seconds. It deals 2 damage, and can pop 8 bloons (10 with Oversize Nails). It can damage frozen Bloons, but not Lead Bloons or Purple Bloons. Compared to other specialized sentries, its lasers have the fastest projectile speed (280 units/second), but still slower than the main nailgun.
Costs and sell values

| 4-0-0 | $4,900 | $3,430 |
| 4-1-0 | $5,150 | $3,605 |
| 4-2-0 | $5,500 | $3,850 |

| 4-0-2 | $5,550 | $3,885 |
Strategy
[edit | edit source]Sentry Expert is effective at acting reactively against Bloon rushes and early MOAB rushes, making it stand out between rounds 11-19. The specialized sentries are often enough to take down most rushes after the initial burst of sentry production, and Sentry Expert stabilizes with a full army of normally produced sentries by the end of the burst.
