Monkey Pirates is the Monkey Buccaneer's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD Battles 2. With this upgrade, the Monkey Buccaneer shoots three frag bombs at a time instead of one, its bombs deal 2 damage instead of 1. This upgrade unlocks the MOAB Takedown Activated Ability, which destroys one MOAB, BFB, DDT (regardless of Camo detection), prioritizing the strongest Bloon. It has a cooldown of 30 seconds (20 seconds with 1-4-0). Taking down a blimp earns cash (MOAB: $400, BFB: $800, DDT: $1200).

However, the intention of this change is more so to deal with a bug that affects towers with differing tier 4 and 5 ability cooldown lengths, causing the tier 5 ability to have an initial cooldown if the tower was upgraded too quickly. This is still an issue for other tier 5s that we hope to fix in the future, but in the meantime, this balance change indirectly fixes the issue for Buccaneer by avoiding the bug. — Update notes |
