Geraldo attacks nearby Bloons by firing bolts of energy that splash on impact, hitting up to 5 Bloons at a time at level 1. He can pop frozen Bloons, but not Lead Bloons or Purple Bloons, and he cannot detect Camo Bloons. Geraldo provides access to Geraldo's Shop, an interface that allows the player to purchase consumable items with cash that have a variety of effects, including sub-towers, items that bufftowers, and traps that activate upon contact with a Bloon. Each item has a limited inventory that restocks over a certain number of rounds. Unlike other Heroes, he has no Activated Abilities. As he levels up, he unlocks more shop items, upgrades previous shop items, and his main attack's pierce, damage, splash, and attack speed improve.
Geraldo holds a lantern that zaps Bloons, shooting lightning that immediately hits the target, creates an explosion on damage, and has 1.1s attack cooldown. The lightning has 1 unbuffable pierce, and deals 1 damage. The explosion has 10 blast radius, 1 damage, and 4 pierce. Neither the lightning nor the explosion can damage Lead Bloons or Purple Bloons. He starts with 40 range, and despite gaining range upgrades, this shouldn't really affect his items later on.
Although much weaker than his shop, Geraldo gains the following benefits to his zapping attack as he levels up:
Level
Effect
3
Acquisition range increased from 40 to 45.
5
Attack cooldown reduced from 1.1s to 1s.
7
Damage increased from 1 to 2, and pierce of the explosion increased from 4 to 9.
9
Blast radius increased from 10 to 13.
11
Pierce of the explosion increased from 9 to 19.
17
Damage increased from 3 to 4.
19
Attack cooldown reduced from 1s to 0.8s, acquisition range increased from 45 to 48, blast radius increased from 13 to 18, and pierce of the explosion increased from 19 to 24.
20
Damage increased from 4 to 9.
Geraldo's Shop
Geraldo's Shop is an interface that allows the player to purchase consumable items with cash, which is accessed by selecting Geraldo and pressing the shop button. Each item has an inventory that limits the number of times it can be used, which restocks one use every few rounds (the number of rounds depends on the item). If an item's inventory is full, it only resumes restocking after an inventory space is opened, and it takes an additional round for it to resume. More items are added to the shop as Geraldo levels up, and existing items are upgraded at certain levels (some items' icons and/or descriptions change to indicate this). When Geraldo reaches level 20, all items are fully restocked once for free, which can only happen once per game and does not occur again if he is sold and re-bought.
On desktop, Geraldo's Shop can be toggled with the Monkey Special hotkey and each item slot can be assigned to a custom hotkey under Advanced Hotkeys.

Geraldo has many items that make him a very flexible hero. He does not require much micromanagement during rounds, but encourages players to actively manage items (and sometimes levels, too) for each round.
More tips:
Geraldo lacks lead-popping until Level 8, via Gerry's Fire.
Timing the round to place Geraldo matters, especially for his Level 20 stock refresh.

We know this is a fundamental change soon after release but after review in live games and more time playing ourselves, we feel the start is too strong to remain as is relative to other heroes of similar cost. Fair warning you’ll see other Geraldo balance in update 32! — Update notes

Geraldo's Sharpening Stone still stands out as extremely powerful for such a low cost, and how early he can be placed as a fast leveling hero allows for extremely easy power ramping from early on. — Update notes
All of Geraldo's temporary buff effects now display buff icons to their applied tower with stack count numbers representing their remaining round durations
We feel the higher level of complexity of Geraldo (along with simply much greater effort required to produce heroes like this) places him up on an elite tier of heroes we don’t necessarily want players to jump right into before learning the game more, as we previously announced at the end of last year his unlock cost is now being increased to reflect this. A number of Gerry’s items are also being tweaked here along with a base placement cost increase as he is also overperforming in a number of ways compared to other heroes. — Update notes

Geraldo has been far too powerful for a while and all-round nerfs are coming to many outstanding aspects, however in return a little quality of life is coming with some more forgiving stock capacities and much more flexible Fertilizer; with the % benefit being reduced in return for improved replenish rate, maximum stock and the ability to now work on all Banana Farm types. — Update notes
Geraldo is coming into line with himself, though as he still feels too far ahead of other heroes we are scaling up some of the shop prices to more justify the power level. — Update notes
