Striker Jones is a Hero in Bloons TD 6. He is unlocked at level 21.

Striker Jones shoots explosive shells from his bazooka, popping up to 10 Bloons in a small blast radius and inflicting pushback. At higher levels, he can buff Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys, plus additional benefits that improve efficiency of explosives, including extra pierce. He cannot target Camo Bloons without support.

  • Starting at level 5, he allows every explosive to have a 50% chance to ignore Black Bloon properties, increasing to 100% at level 19.
  • Starting at level 8, he improves the pierce and range of all nearby towers.
  • He has three Activated Abilities:
    • Concussive Shell (level 3) — Fires a homing missile that targets the strongest Bloon on screen (except BADs and Bosses), damaging and stunning it and nearby Bloons.
    • Target Focus (level 7) — For the duration, all Mortar Monkeys have increased accuracy and follow the location where the user last tapped or hovered.
    • Artillery Command (level 10) — Resets all ability cooldowns of Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys. At level 20, it also grants double damage and pierce to all Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys for a limited time.

Mechanics

Bazooka

Striker Jones shoots missiles from his bazooka. Each missile travels in a straight line, exploding on impact in a small radius. Damaged non-MOAB-Class Bloons are knocked back 5 units. Initially, his explosions deal 2 damage with 10 pierce, with 15 blast radius, and attacks every 1.2s. He starts with 55 range.

Buffs

 

Starting at level 4, All Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys have 10% reduced attack cooldowns (~11% increased attack speed). This buff is global and is marked with an icon of Striker Jones' head.

At level 8, every tower in the range of Striker Jones gain 5% range and 25% pierce. Unlike most buffs, this specific buff lacks an icon.

At level 18, the global buff to Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys is improved; these towers now have a further 10% reduced attack cooldowns (~11% increased attack speed), for a total of 19% reduced attack cooldown (~23.46% increased attack speed).

Black Bloon debuff

Starting at level 5, all Black Bloons, Zebra Bloons, and DDTs have a 50% chance to have their immunity to explosion damage be ignored when hit, increasing to 100% at level 19. This chance is applied separately for each Bloon, so, for example, an explosion that hits two Black Bloons may damage one Black Bloon but not the other. This applies to all sources of explosion damage, not just Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys.

Abilities

Concussive Shell

Concussive Shell is unlocked at level 3. It fires a seeking explosive projectile that targets and locks onto the strongest Bloon on-screen other than BADs and Bosses, and picks a new target if the current target is popped. On impact, the explosion deals 2 damage and stuns up to 36 Bloons (38 with   More 'Splody) in a large radius for one second, with a duration penalty versus all MOAB-Class Bloons (MOABs and DDTs: -40%, BFBs: -55%, ZOMGs: -70%). It can damage any Bloon type, including Black Bloons, but it cannot target or hit Camo Bloons.

At level 9, its damage increases from 2 to 12, pierce increased from 36 to 48, and stun duration increase to 4 seconds. At level 1, its blast radius increases by 50% (27 → 40.5) and its stun duration improves again to 6 seconds.

It has a 16-second cooldown, which is reduced to 11 seconds at level 15.

Target Focus

 

Target Focus is unlocked at level 7. It temporarily changes the targeting of all Mortar Monkeys to Follow Touch and reduces the spread of their shots by 30% for 15 seconds. Mortar Monkeys cannot target Follow Touch otherwise and they revert to targeting their original targeting settings when the ability ends. Mortar Monkeys can also switch back to Set Target early by re-selecting a new location. It has a 45-second cooldown.

Artillery Command

 

Artillery Command is unlocked at level 10. It instantly resets the cooldown of all MOAB Assassin, MOAB Eliminator, Bomb Blitz, Artillery Battery, Pop and Awe, and Ballistic Obliteration Missile Bunker Activated Abilities. Artillery Battery and Pop and Awe cannot be activated immediately after if their durations have not ended yet. It cannot be used if there are no abilities it can reset. At level 20, it also doubles the damage and pierce of all Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys for 10 seconds, and it can be used even if there are no abilities it can reset. It has an 80-second cooldown.

Striker Jones is a solid hero for counteracting the explosive immunity, and serves well in strategies that focus on Bombs and/or Mortars. Additionally, his bonus percentage pierce buff improves the damage output of Spike Factory. His main attack also does solid damage and Bloon knockback, though less important than his buffs.

Concussive Shell is a strong support ability, helping to stall Bloon waves such as on round 63. On later rounds, Concussive Shell may be spammed to help stall large groups of MOAB-Class Bloons. Since this ability is locked on Strong, focus on dealing with weak clumps with your other towers.

Target Focus assists Mortar-heavy defenses, allowing them to automatically target a specific location without needing to manually move each Mortar's targetings. Even with a single Mortar, Target Focus allows the player to shift focus on the screen. However, this ability's effects last for a limited time, so should be reserved for difficult rounds that would otherwise require heavy micro.

Artillery Command especially helps Pop and Awe and Artillery Battery, but it's not very reliable due to its slow cooldown. At level 20, it provides a very strong buff to all Bomb Shooters and Mortar Monkeys, greatly helping against difficult rounds such as 98, 99, and 100.

We were hopeful to get this in early last year, however it was delayed at the time in favour of other things. Finally though, along with the other Mortar changes in this update it feels like a good time for Jones to learn a new Lv7 QoL ability designed around managing large numbers of mortars more effectively.
