Powers are a type of card in Bloons Card Storm. When played, they trigger an effect, then are discarded. Some Powers require the player to select a target Bloon or Monkey, and cannot be used if there is no target, while others have no conditions to play. Some Powers cost Bloontonium to play instead of Gold. They come in three classes: Basic, Advanced, and Exotic.

Mechanics

All Power cards briefly describe their primary functionality on their descriptions. Some cards can be targeted onto Bloons or Monkeys, while some are simply dragged onto the screen with no difference between playing the card onto the left or right side.

The charge of a card indicates how many of this card can be played before it is fully used up. These are indicated by coin icons on the top-left of a card. Power cards can have between 1 to 2 charges. Some cards have effects that allow the card to be played more than once but still have one charge (e.g. Long Range Rang).

Classes

Powers come in three card classes: Basic, Advanced, and Exotic. There are no clear rules governing how Powers are classified, though there are some characteristics that are more common among certain classes.

  •   Basic — These Powers typically have one or few functionalities that are straightforward.
  •   Advanced — These Powers typically have multiple applications for their functionalities.
  •   Large — These Powers tend to have special attributes that are considered otherworldly. These cards may involve magic, science fiction, instant destruction of Bloons, or a combination of them.

Keyword

Powers that contain keyword(s) have special properties, many of which require activation under certain conditions. Any keywords of a Monkey are displayed on its card information, and is usually formatted as "<keyword>: <information>" on the card text. Most keywords are also displayed by icons that represent them.

Despite some cards granting Shield to Heroes or Bloons, there's no Shield keyword on any Power card.
