Benjamin is the only hero that does not directly damage Bloons, instead focusing on generating cash, healing lives, and supporting towers in other ways. Most of his upgrades increase the amount of cash he earns or add new ways he generates income.
Starting at level 4, he gains Cyber Security, which heals lives after each round. Starting at level 14, he can generate up to 100 extra lives above the starting amount.
Starting at level 6, he gains Skimming, which generates extra cash per Bloon spawning from the entrance. This bonus is increased starting from level 12.
Starting at level 7, he gains the Trojan attack, which causes affected Bloons to not spawn any children when its outer layer is popped, and returning some cash in return. It affects up to MOABs initially, with the ability to affect BFBs and DDTs starting at level 18.
Biohack (level 3) — Temporarily increases the damage of towers, but with a downtime afterwards during which they cannot attack.
Syphon Funding (level 10) — Downgrades newly spawned Bloons, up to ZOMGs, and makes them generate more cash when popped. Starting at level 18, he can downgrade DDTs.
Benjamin generates a certain amount of cash at the end of each round, depending on his level.

Cyber Security
Starting at level 4, Benjamin restores up to 5 lives per round, and cannot increase lives beyond the starting amount. Starting at level 14, he generates 10 lives per round, and can increase the amount of lives to up to 100 over the starting amount (which cannot bypass the max lives challenge rule, including in Impoppable and CHIMPS mode).
Bank Hack
Starting at level 5, Benjamin grants a buff to all Monkey Banks, IMF Loans, and Monkey-Nomics on screen. This buff increases the income they generate during a round by 5%, but does not affect the 15% interest they earn after a round ends, only the generated "bananas". Starting at level 9, this buff is upgraded to increase income by 12% instead.
Skimming
Starting at level 6, Benjamin generates cash for each Bloon that spawns from the entrance (not from other Bloons). He generates $1 per Bloon from levels 6–11 and $2 from levels 12 and up.
Bloon Trojan
Starting at level 7, Benjamin gains a Trojan attack which has infinite range but cannot see through line-of-sight blockers and cannot be blocked by other bloons in the path of its target. This attack does not deal damage directly, but applies an effect to Bloons which causes them to spawn no children when popped. Additionally, cash is earned for each Trojan-affected Bloon which is popped: usually $1 for every layer the Bloon has, plus $1 if the round is 60 or earlier. Initially, the attack cannot target Camo Bloons, anything ranked below a Pink Bloon, anything ranked above a MOAB, or any of the Frontier Legends-exclusive Bloons.
Note that Trojan often loses cash, especially when affecting stronger Bloons and using cash-per-pop sources (especially Monkey Town, Bloon Trap, and Rubber to Gold). Therefore, placing Benjamin behind a line-of-sight blocker to prevent Trojan from affecting Bloons will often increase one's overall income.

Effect
16
Attack cooldown reduces to 3–4 seconds. Bloons with the effect now give $2 per layer when destroyed.
18
Benjamin gains Camo detection, allowing his attack to target Camo Bloons and Advanced Intel to target Camo Bloons in his range. The projectiles can also now target BFBs and DDTs. DDTs generate $2 more than BFBs.
Abilities
Biohack
Biohack unlocks at level 3. It grants a buff to up to four towers that increases their damage by +1 for 6 seconds. When the buff expires, all affected towers stop attacking for 2 seconds afterwards. This ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds and an initial cooldown of 10 seconds. This ability cannot be activated if there are no valid targets on screen.
When selecting the towers to buff, this ability prioritizes the towers closest in proximity to Benjamin and ignores the following towers:
Now affects up to six towers, grants +2 damage, and lasts for 8 seconds. (Downtime remains 2 seconds long.)
19
Now grants +3 damage and lasts for 9 seconds. (Downtime remains 2 seconds long.)
Syphon Funding
Syphon Funding unlocks at level 10. For 10 seconds, it causes all newly spawned Bloons to be downgraded 1 layer, and affected Bloons generate twice as much cash as normal when popped. it does not affect BADs or Boss Bloons, and Benjamin must be at least level 18 for it to affect DDTs. This ability has a cooldown of 65 seconds and an initial cooldown of 21.67 seconds.
At level 20, Benjamin's Syphon Funding is increased to 20 seconds in duration, and affected Bloons grant triple the cash rather than double when popped.
The following table shows how Syphon Funding downgrades affected Bloons:
Biohack: 4 closest Monkeys pop an extra layer per attack for 6 seconds. Affected Monkeys can't attack for 2 seconds after effect ends.
4
Cyber Security - Restores 5 lives at the end of each round.
5
Bank Hack - all banks earn +5% income.
6
Skimming - earns +$1 for every new Bloon spawned.
7
Bloon Trojan - Every few seconds sends a Trojan software virus to random Bloon. Affected Bloon spawns no children when destroyed and produces 1 extra cash for every layer.
8
Income increased to $250 per round.
9
Bank hack increased to 12%.
10
Syphon Funding: Downgrades most newly spawned Bloons by 1 rank. Cash per pop from affected Bloons is double. Lasts 10 seconds.
11
Income increased to $1000 per round.
12
Skimming increased to $2 per Bloon.
13
Biohack increases bonus damage and affects 6 Monkeys for 8 seconds.
14
Cyber Security adds 10 lives per round and can go up to 100 over starting lives.
15
Income increased to $2500 per round.
16
Bloon Trojan is sent more often and earns more cash.
17
Income increased to $5000 per round.
18
Bloon Trojan can affect BFB and DDT Bloons.
19
Biohack lasts 9 seconds and affected Monkeys pop 3 extra layers instead of 2.
20
Syphon Funding lasts 20 seconds and cash per pop is triple normal for affected Bloons.
Benjamin is an easy-to-use hero for income generation, suitable for casual and competitive gameplay, particularly Boss Bloon Events, which demand optimizing income. He can quickly snowball income in the early-game and provide heaps of cash at his highest levels. The life heal also assists in greeding income during early rounds. Trojan assists against early MOABs by removing the need to deal with its children, but quickly loses more money than he earns, in addition to stealing pops from income-per-pop sources (e.g. Bloon Trap, Rubber to Gold) and potential Paragons. Note that his abilities are harder to use, and have noteworthy drawbacks; Biohack offers a burst of damage at the cost of downtime, and Syphon Funding's layer downgrade assists against threats of BFBs and ZOMGs but loses a lot of money. Placement is not too important, but preferably place him behind walls if Trojan is undesirable, and away from potential Farm placements.
Despite his lack of income generation on CHIMPS, Benjamin has a niche that allows him to be effective at getting rid of large RBE via his Syphon Funding ability, especially Rounds 94, 96, and 98. Place him at about round 80 to only level enough for Level 10 in time for important dense rounds. Compared to Psi, Benjamin's Level 10 ability affects ZOMGs regardless of level, so he is not outclassed by other heroes in that attribute, yet still a suboptimal choice compared to Corvus and Geraldo which don't actively lose money, tend to have more reliable anti-dense options, and are less underperforming versus DDTs.

Some players don’t want their Trojan to activate until a certain point, or at all. The Trojan is as it is by design, however since currently Ben’s location doesn’t seem to matter much we feel that by limiting the Trojan to not target through walls this will allow that strategic use to be made if chosen via clever positioning depending on the map. — Update notes

Trojan: No longer ignores line of sight
Note: This opens up strategies that purposely avoid losing money and pops from Benjamin's Trojan
Benjamin’s value as a farming hero is majorly tied to how much more efficient he is at Lv1 than base farms and at a lower cost, whereas his higher levels of cash generation are quite inconsequential. Given this along with his early game snowball being a general balance concern, we're lowering the base cash generation to not be so overwhelming but also pumping up cash generation into his higher levels so he brings a lot more to the table later. — Update notes
Benjamin’s Cyber Security and Skimming levels have been swapped around so that the early game skimming cash snowball doesn’t come quite so soon, and Cyber Security can come in earlier where it will make a bigger impact proportionally to the lives being lost. — Update notes

As T1 artifacts can easily be filled in with selected starting artifacts we felt a lot of starter teams didn’t stand out from the rest in too meaningful a way (other than starting towers), so to improve on this we’ve gone over a lot of the worse performing starter teams and upgraded their starter artifacts to higher tiers. — Update notes
