Bloons Card Storm (abbreviated BCS) is a competitive card battling game in the Bloons franchise. In the game, two players compete against each other by taking turns playing cards. On each turn, players can play Bloon cards to attack the opponent, Monkey cards to defend against the opponent's Bloons, or Power cards to activate beneficial effects and/or disrupt the opponent. They can also use their Hero's abilities, with the objective being to reduce the opposing Hero's health to 0. Many of the game's elements are based on Bloons TD 6 and Bloons TD Battles 2, including the aesthetics and many of the Monkeys, Bloons, and Powers.
On 23 May 2024, Ninja Kiwi announced that an early access build of the Windows release called the Firstlook test would be distributed to a limited number of applicants on their official Discord server. This build features two Heroes, five preset decks with no support for customization, and two game modes: an offline Adventure mode where the player can battle against bots with specific decks, and an online Duel mode that was only accessible from 4 June 2024 to 7 June 2024. On 6 August 2024, Ninja Kiwi announced that they would distribute a second early access build for Windows (later amended to include macOS) called the Full Playable test to all previous applicants and new applicants. It was released as a software update for the existing application on Steam, with the Duel mode running again from 20 August 2024 to 30 August 2024 (later extended to 11 September 2024). This build introduced new cards and a new Hero, deck-building, currencies, and quests, and included balance changes, updated graphics, and changes to the Adventure mode.
On 26 September 2024, Ninja Kiwi announced that all pre-release Steam keys would be revoked, preventing players from continuing to play the game offline.[2]
On 28 October 2024, Bloons Card Storm officially released on all platforms.
Gameplay

Bloons Card Storm is a two-player turn-based card game. At the start of a match, each player draws their starting hand and can redraw a card in their starting hand up to 3 times. The player that goes first starts with 3 cards, while the other player starts with 4 cards and 1 extra Gold. At the start of each turn, the turn player draws one card and gains Gold. Players can have up to 8 cards in their hand and can save up to 20 Gold. The amount of Gold earned at the beginning of a turn starts at 1 and increases by 1 after each turn, up to a maximum of 10 Gold per turn. On each turn, players can spend Gold to play cards, use their Monkeys to attack the opponent's Bloons, or spend Bloontonium to use one of their Hero's Abilities, and they can do so in any order. At the end of the turn, all of the player's Bloons reduce their turn delay by 1 and attack the opponent's Hero if their delay was zero at the start of the turn. Sent bloons deal damage equivelent to their health. The player wins if they reduce the opponent's Hero's health to 0.
Cards

Each player has a deck that consists of one Hero and 40 cards. Up to three copies of each card can be included in a deck (except for Unique cards, which only allow one copy per deck). There are three types of cards:
- Bloons: Bloon cards are the main way of attacking the opponent. Each Bloon has a Delay stat that determines how many turns the opponent has to defend and a Health stat that determines both how much damage the Bloon can take and deal. The turn delay decrements at the end of the player's turn and attacks the opponent if it reaches zero, dealing as much damage as it has health remaining. Some Bloon cards can be played more than once before being discarded. Playing a Bloon card also generates Bloontonium equal to the card's Gold cost. Bloons can have additional effects, such as giving extra Gold to the player when destroyed. Each player can have up to 8 Bloons queued at a time, and more Bloons cannot be played if the player's side is full.
- Monkeys: Monkey cards are the main way of defending against Bloons. Each Monkey has an Attack Power stat that determines how much damage they deal to Bloons, an Ammo stat that determines how many times they can attack before needing to reload, and a Reload stat that determines how many turns it takes to restore their Ammo. Players can spend Ammo to attack their opponent's Bloons at any time during their turn. Monkeys can have additional effects, such as having more Attack Power when at full Ammo. Each player can have up to 5 Monkeys on their side at a time, and existing Monkeys can be replaced by playing new Monkeys if the player's side is full.
- Powers: When played, power cards instantly trigger an effect, then are discarded. Some Powers require a target, such as selecting a Monkey or Bloon, while others have no conditions.
Heroes
Heroes are characters that each player has during the game at all times. Heroes start with 500 health and come with three Abilities: a Minor Ability that costs a certain amount Bloontonium to play, a Passive Ability that remains active as long as the Hero meets a specific Bloontonium threshold, and a Major Ability that consumes all Bloontonium. Heroes have different Abilities, Bloontonium costs, and maximum Bloontonium. When a Hero loses all their health, the opponent wins.
The Full Playable test included three playable Heroes, with the full release introducing Amelia the Amazing. Concept art of Benjamin and Ezili suggests they are planned to appear as playable Heroes as well.[3] While the launch version of BCS does not feature Hero Alts or Hero Skins, there are plans for Hero Alts with different Abilities instead of Hero Skins, similar to Bloons TD Battles 2.[4]
Storm

The Storm is a mechanic that triggers every few turns. When it triggers, it first attacks the side of the player that did not go first, then attacks the other side on the following turn, then waits a few more turns before triggering again. Initially, it spawns Bloons, starting with Yellow Bloons and spawning stronger Bloons and/or more Bloons at a time as the game progresses. On later rounds, it can also stun Monkeys.
Maps

Unlike in the Bloons TD series, all maps have the same layout. Each map is distinguished by having a unique gameplay modifier. The Full Playable build included six playable maps, five of which used the same background (presumably as a placeholder). Currently, there are six playable maps. In the full 1.0 release, there were only five playable maps, all of which have a unique background.
Currencies
- Monkey Money: Used for unlocking heroes, deck slots, or purchasing Daily Deals. Monkey Money is capped at 10,000.
- Tokens: Used to craft cards. There are eleven types of Tokens: ten for each card class, plus Universal Tokens, which can be used to craft any class of card.
Quests
There are two types of quests: Daily Quests, which reset daily, and Weekly Quests, which reset weekly. Daily Quests reward 20 Monkey Money and 150 Tokens of a random type. Weekly Quests always reward 150 Monkey Money and 1000 Tokens of a random type. Each quest type has three slots. There is a reroll feature for quests that can be used even when quests are completed, but rerolling is tied with the daily/weekly reset timer. Quests can only be progressed by playing in duels or Amelia's Adventure, and will not progress in private matches or training.
Weekly quests reset on Monday at the same time as Daily quests.
Daily Quests
Note that the Monkey Money amounts are from the Full Look Test, in the full release all Daily Quests give 20 Monkey Money.

Store
The Store lets the player purchase things for real-life money and with Monkey Money. On mobile, players can watch an ad that refreshes daily that gives 50 Monkey Money. This feature is only available at all without ads for Steam players if they made an in app purchase. The only things that can be purchased with Monkey Money are Daily Items, deck slots, and Heroes.
Daily Items

Every day (refreshing at 8:00 UTC), six items will be available for purchase. There are two kinds of items that can be purchased:
- Card Packs — Unlocks multiple random cards upon purchase. Pack of 3 has 1 common, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare+, Pack of 5 is 2 commons, 2 uncommons, and 1 rare+, and Pack of 7 is 2 common, 3 uncommons, and 2 rare+ cards. Rare+ cards have a 80% chance to be a Rare card, a 15% chance to be Super Rare, and a 5% chance to be Ultra Rare. If the random card is a card that would exceed the card limit of 3 (1 if unique), then it will auto-disenchant into Universal Tokens. Commons are worth 50 Universal Tokens, Uncommons 150, Rares 250, Super Rares 600 and Ultra Rares 2500.[5]
- Tokens — A certain amount of a random type of Tokens, which is indicated before the player purchases it. Universal Tokens cannot appear.
The shop can additionally be refreshed once every day by watching an ad on mobile, even before the daily reset is over, or without an ad if the player paid for an in-app purchase. This feature is only available at all without ads for Steam players if they made an in-app purchase, and resets at the same time as the Daily Items do. Sometimes, ad-related features may not work, logging out and uninstalling on the original device of installation, then reinstalling and logging back in may fix this issue.
Daily Reward
The Daily Reward can be claimed once per day for
50, refreshing at 8:00 UTC. If the player has not made any in-app purchases, it can only be claimed on mobile platforms by watching an ad; the option is unavailable on PC. If the player has made a single in-app purchase, it can be claimed without watching an ad and becomes available on both mobile and PC.
Feats
Feats are the equivalent of Achievements in other games, where players receive one-time rewards for completing certain objectives. Feats can only be progressed by playing in duels or Amelia's Adventure, and will not progress in private matches or training.
Game modes
Duel
Duel is a multiplayer mode involving two human players online. After choosing a deck, the player waits for an opponent. The chosen opponent is primarily based on matchmaking. Once assigned an opponent, a random map is selected, and both players have up to 30 seconds before the game automatically begins. Both players each can veto up to one map, and the timer resets if a map is vetoed. The player is randomly assigned first or second player.
Adventure
Adventure is a singleplayer mode where the player plays against AI opponents with preset decks. The AI opponents always go second, and the map is usually pre-determined. There are two Adventures, each split into two campaigns, though one of the campaigns is only accessible through in-app purchases.

Announcement

Ninja Kiwi revealed Bloons Card Storm to the public on 19 September 2023 in a Reddit post featuring artwork and a short description of the game.[6]
We are super excited to announce Bloons Card Storm, a competitive card game within the Blooniverse coming to mobile and PC in 2024.
Pick your favorite Hero, fill your deck with Bloons, Monkeys, and Powers, and then do battle!
In true Bloons tradition, Monkeys don't attack other Monkeys, so you'll need to carefully balance your deck with nefarious Bloon cards for offense and powerful Monkey cards for defense. Use Powers at just the right time to swing the battle in your favor, inject some much needed gold into your economy, or draw deeper into your deck.
Quincy, Gwen, and many of your favorite Heroes are here and ready to help you pop Bloons and conquer the playfield.
As you've come to expect from Ninja Kiwi games, we're aiming to build something that is super fun to play, easy to pick up, but hard to put down. With tons of developer and artist time already invested into the project, we're loving this turn-based, deep strategy card game internally, and we think you will, too. We're making great strides and are aiming to launch the game mid-2024. As that date approaches we will be opening Beta testing phases, so keep your eyes peeled to Ninja Kiwi socials for those announcements, most probably starting early in 2024.First look test
The First look test included 35 cards, two Heroes, four maps, five preset decks (with no deck-building functionality), and eight Adventure stages.
