Rubber to Gold is the Alchemist's path 3 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants the Alchemist a new attack which throws a gold potion at Bloons. This gold potion deals no damage but applies a gold effect to Bloons, which makes them generate +100% pop income when popped. Additionally it disables Lead, Black, Purple, and White immunities while affected by this effect. Its effects also apply to MOAB-Class bloons, including Boss Bloons. This status effect lasts for 14 seconds and soaks all non-blimp layers.
The pop income increase stacks additively with other towers that increase pop income such as Monkey Town, Bloon Trap, and Pirate Lord. The gold effect soaks through non-MOAB-Class layers, but does not affect inner layers of MOAB-Class Bloons unless they are insta-killed. Pop income increase cannot affect BADs or Boss Bloons.
The gold potion has 15 pierce (20 pierce with Larger Potions) and has an attack cooldown of 2 seconds. Its radius is 21, increased to 31.5 with Larger Potions.

Rubber to Gold is an effective way to generate cash from pops, provided it converts enough bloons to gold, which can be maximized by clumping them with no-damage slowdowns (especially 0-1-2 Glue) to maximize pierce of each gold potion. Compared to Bloon Trap, Rubber to Gold lacks self-sufficient damage, but compensates with strong value against high-HP bloons, and both can be combined for maximum cash generation from pops. However, every new Rubber to Gold Alchemist has diminishing value, so buying just one or two is often enough per entrance.
For income, its favored targets are Ceramics, which don't take much damage that would be stolen by the main potion, and give the most cash-per-pop per bloon. Its income generation is also decent on MOAB-class if combined with blimp instakills, but its main selling point is against mid-game Ceramics. It stands out especially against Dreadbloon Boss Events, as its modified rounds tend to have excessive Leads and Ceramics, which also favor its own Lead to Gold effects.
Rubber to Gold's bloon property debuff is weak and ineffective for its cost compared to buying a Monkey Intelligence Bureau to directly counter bloon properties. Spamming enough Rubber to Golds will, however, allow group-popping towers to take care of dense Ceramic clumps for the mid-game, such as Icicles. While not useless in CHIMPS, Rubber to Gold is not recommended for serious gameplay, because of Rubber to Gold's extreme lack of attack speed and radius to reliably catch DDTs, especially compared to Embrittlement which makes bloons take extra damage and also does reasonable damage itself.
Versus Bosses, the debuff to bloon properties is only practical on Dreadbloon and Blastapopoulos: it de-leads unshielded Dreadbloon if it lacks Magic immunity, and for de-purpling Blastapopoulos it allows Master Builder's Mega Sentries and Mini Sentries to damage the Boss (which cannot be buffed by MIB), plus a niche with reliably allowing multiple Arctic Knight and Popseidon abilities to cool off Blastapopoulos.

Lead to Gold hasn’t been a competitive 3rd tier outside of special game modes and challenges, so we’ve added some more uniqueness by allowing it to truly live up to its description and deal enough damage to instantly ‘convert’ a Lead Bloon, children layers and all, also carrying on some value here in the later game by allowing this bonus to deal extra against DDTs as well. — Update notes
Acid Pools only adds anything to the tower when there are no Bloons around, so we’re making it a hybrid that benefits somewhat from this upgrade even while attacking normally. — Update notes
”
Acid Pools every 5th attack against a Bloon drops an acid pool under the target
Back to improving damage over time, Lead to Gold currently deals a large damage increase to Leads but only on the main impact of the attack. I’m sure you can see where we’re going with this. — Update notes
”
Main attack: Damage-over-time now also deals bonus to Leads ― +0 → +9
Instead of being only a niche income source, the Rubber to Gold debuff is being reworked to now expire after a duration but for that duration it will nullify Bloon properties. Some seriously interesting build options from this. — Update notes
”
Gold status effect duration decreased ― Infinite → 7s
Gold status effect also disables Lead, Black, White, and Purple immunities for duration
Note: Gilded status does not affect damage bonuses to Bloon properties (e.g. Lead to Gold vs Lead)
People thought the last Rubber to Gold changes sounded cool, but were not particularly reliable so we’re improving the reliability of this attack with much faster attack rate and radius and also adding back some of the potion duration that was previously taken away. — Update notes
The faster attack rate improved Rubber To Gold’s average cash generation too much, so this multiplier is being reduced to bring it more in line — Update notes
”
Rubber to Gold effect: Cash per pop multiplier reduced ― ×3 → ×2
