Geraldo is a Hero in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 31.0. He can be unlocked for
7,000 starting at level 35.
Geraldo attacks nearby Bloons by firing bolts of energy that splash on impact, hitting up to 5 Bloons at a time at level 1. He can pop frozen Bloons, but not Lead Bloons or Purple Bloons, and he cannot detect Camo Bloons. Geraldo provides access to Geraldo's Shop, an interface that allows the player to purchase consumable items with cash that have a variety of effects, including sub-towers, items that buff towers, and traps that activate upon contact with a Bloon. Each item has a limited inventory that restocks over a certain number of rounds. Unlike other Heroes, he has no Activated Abilities. As he levels up, he unlocks more shop items, upgrades previous shop items, and his main attack's pierce, damage, splash, and attack speed improve.
- Geraldo initially begins with Shooty Turret, Stack of Old Nails, Creepy Idol, and Jar of Pickles. He unlocks new items at levels 2–12 and 20. Most of his items begin improving at levels 13–19.
- At level 20, Geraldo fully restocks his entire store, once per game per Geraldo.
Mechanics
editLightning attack
editGeraldo holds a lantern that zaps Bloons, shooting lightning that immediately hits the target, creates an explosion on damage, and has 1.1s attack cooldown. The lightning has 1 unbuffable pierce, and deals 1 damage. The explosion has 10 blast radius, 1 damage, and 4 pierce. His lightning and the explosion are Energy type, which can't damage Lead Bloons, Purple Bloons or Glass Bloons. He starts with 40 range, and despite gaining range upgrades, this shouldn't really affect his items later on.
Although much weaker than his shop, Geraldo gains the following benefits to his zapping attack as he levels up:
| Level | Effect |
|---|---|
| 3 | Acquisition range increased from 40 to 45. |
| 5 | Attack cooldown reduced from 1.1s to 1s. |
| 7 | Damage increased from 1 to 2, and pierce of the explosion increased from 4 to 9. |
| 9 | Blast radius increased from 10 to 13. |
| 11 | Pierce of the explosion increased from 9 to 19. |
| 17 | Damage increased from 2 to 3. |
| 19 | Attack cooldown reduced from 1s to 0.8s, acquisition range increased from 45 to 48, blast radius increased from 13 to 18, and pierce of the explosion increased from 19 to 24. Damage increased from 3 to 4. |
| 20 | Damage increased from 4 to 9. |
Geraldo's Shop
editGeraldo's Shop is an interface that allows the player to purchase consumable items with cash, which is accessed by selecting Geraldo and pressing the shop button. Each item has an inventory that limits the number of times it can be used, which restocks one use every few rounds (the number of rounds depends on the item). If an item's inventory is full, it only resumes restocking after an inventory space is opened. More items are added to the shop as Geraldo levels up, and existing items are upgraded at certain levels (some items' icons and/or descriptions change to indicate this). When Geraldo reaches level 20, all items are fully restocked once for free, which can only happen once per game and does not occur again if he is sold and re-bought.
On desktop, Geraldo's Shop can be toggled with the Monkey Special hotkey and each item slot can be assigned to a custom hotkey under Advanced Hotkeys.

Strategy
edit| This strategy section is empty or incomplete. See the strategy guidelines for more information on how to write strategy sections. The editor who added this notice elaborates: Add further strategies of how to generally use Geraldo, and put any spare ideas in Tips. Clarify when to time his lvl20 restock in chimps. Find other items and synergies that matter to Geraldo. Compare him with other heroes (mainly the ability-centric heroes, Corvus, and simpler heroes like Sauda) |
Geraldo has a variety of items that make him a flexible Hero, but is hard to master compared to most Heroes. He does not require much micromanagement during rounds, but encourages players to actively manage items (and sometimes levels, too) for each round. He can simplify most stages of the game at the cost of in-game cash. Avoid overspending on his items, and always understand the value of his items before consuming them in non-casual games. Explore his items in casual games first to gain a general understanding of them.
He stands out on Boss Bloon Events, mainly because of his Paragon Power Totems and relatively efficient income generation (via Rare Quincy Action Figure and Fertilizer). He also stands out in Least Tiers because his items can be spammed when income is not a concern, and items don't add to tiers. Compared to Benjamin, Geraldo's farming curve is slower at first but picks up once he unlocks Fertilizer. Geraldo has fair synergies with many towers, including second-path Snipers, first-path Ninjas, and third-path Druids; however, higher-level players consider him an average-tier Hero for CHIMPS.
In the early-game, his Shooty Turrets help break down Bloons, compensating for Geraldo's generally low damage alone. Tube of Amaz-o-Glue is a simple-to-use slowdown. When buying Rare Quincy Action Figure, try to buy it as soon as it's unlocked, then sell him after buying, which affords a 0-0-0 Banana Farm as soon as possible, to compensate the lack of direct income that other Heroes would have.
During the mid-game, use his Fertilizer onto Banana Research Facility and Banana Central on modes that enable cash generation; elsewhere, build the four Pet Rabbits for efficient cleanup. In Boss Events that require Rejuv Potion for Tier 2 Boss, buy level 11 on round 55 so he stores 2 Rejuvs before round 60 begins.
Towards the late-game, conserving items and saving enough money for important supports outside his shop is important. In CHIMPS, sometimes Geraldo must be placed later on Advanced and Expert Maps, so he times his level 20 restock during the 90s (rounds 92 and 98 are typical for the refresh). Rejuv Potion, Genie Bottle (hyperdense rounds, DDTs, single-target), and Creepy Idol are the main carries for late-game if not considering income. Camo Potion can be considered for a range buff and extra DDT damage. His upgraded Shooty Turrets can be useful on maps with separated lanes (e.g. Dark Dungeons) or if needing to maximize DPS in Least Tiers. Upgraded Gerry's Fire can be considered on towers that have strong synergies with the flame spirits.
Geraldo should not be considered for deep Freeplay. In cash-generating deep Freeplay, his items are too slow to restock, the extra 9 max degrees for Paragons is negligible, and he's outclassed by the benefits of Ezili and Adora. In deep Freeplay CHIMPS, his items demand cash, which limits saveups of expensive supports such as Temples or additional towers that have permanent DPS.
Tips
edit- Geraldo lacks lead-popping until Level 8, via Gerry's Fire.
- Timing the round to place Geraldo matters, especially for his Level 20 stock refresh. In game modes with cash generation, cash can buy his levels quickly, making the initial placement timing matter less.
- Worn Hero's Cape helps compress Super Monkeys, mainly Sun Avatars. However, ultrabuffed Bloonjitsus are often more efficient.
- Jar of Pickles is niche, but a worthwhile support if used correctly. Use on fast-attacking, many projectile towers that deal low base damage.
- Use See Invisibility Potion's camo detection as a temporary measure before getting a permanent option. Until level 14, the potion will not have full uptime.

| “ | We feel the higher level of complexity of Geraldo (along with simply much greater effort required to produce heroes like this) places him up on an elite tier of heroes we don’t necessarily want players to jump right into before learning the game more, as we previously announced at the end of last year his unlock cost is now being increased to reflect this. A number of Gerry’s items are also being tweaked here along with a base placement cost increase as he is also overperforming in a number of ways compared to other heroes. — Update notes |
