Rubber to Gold is the Alchemist's path 3 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants the Alchemist a new attack which throws a gold potion at Bloons. This gold potion deals no damage but applies a gold effect to any Bloons that isn't a BAD or Boss Bloon, which makes them generate +100% pop income when popped. Additionally, it disables the Lead, Black, Purple, and White immunities of affected Bloons. The status effect lasts for 14 seconds and soaks through all non-MOAB-Class layers, but does affect inner layers of MOAB-Class Bloons if they are insta-killed. The pop income increase stacks additively with other towers that increase pop income, such as Monkey Town, Bloon Trap, and Pirate Lord.

The gold potion has 15 pierce (20 pierce with Larger Potions), an attack cooldown of 2 seconds, and a radius of 21 (31.5 with Larger Potions).

Rubber to Gold is an effective way to generate cash from pops between rounds 37-59 which can be maximized by clumping Bloons with Glue Gunner to maximize pierce of each gold potion. Compared to Bloon Trap, Rubber to Gold lacks damage, but compensates with strong value against high-HP bloons. Both towers should be combined for maximum cash generation from pops. Setting to Strong is preferred to target the strongest Bloons but setting to Last targeting is better to maximize splash radius. Every new Rubber to Gold Alchemist has diminishing value, so buying just one or two is usually enough.

Rubber to Gold should ideally be placed well before a defense can damage the bloons in order to provide time to gild Bloons and damage Lead Bloons with the base attack. Placing a defense too close to the Rubber to Gold may result in lost income from popping Bloons yet to be gilded or Lead Bloons yet to be converted.

For the most cash-per-pop per target, Ceramics and MOAB-class bloons are the best targets. Use blimp instakills such as XXXL Trap or Pirate Lord to gain the full income from blimps in combination with Bounty Hunter for its 2x cash multiplier. Additionally, Dreadbloon Boss Events have modified rounds which have extra Leads and Ceramics, which also favor its own Lead to Gold effects.

The bloon property debuff is inferior compared to Monkey Intelligence Bureau and Embrittlement; it is slow on the fast-moving DDTs, will not work on Bosses, and for midgame rushes Embrittlement and Bounty Hunter are much more consistent to skip immunities. It's practically never worth it in CHIMPS, though the property debuff is niche elsewhere.

Since Rubber to Gold is mostly for income and not for damage (which 0-2-4 does best), its best crosspath is 1-0-4, for the extra radius and pierce.

Lead to Gold hasn’t been a competitive 3rd tier outside of special game modes and challenges, so we’ve added some more uniqueness by allowing it to truly live up to its description and deal enough damage to instantly ‘convert’ a Lead Bloon, children layers and all, also carrying on some value here in the later game by allowing this bonus to deal extra against DDTs as well.

Acid Pools only adds anything to the tower when there are no Bloons around, so we’re making it a hybrid that benefits somewhat from this upgrade even while attacking normally.

Back to improving damage over time, Lead to Gold currently deals a large damage increase to Leads but only on the main impact of the attack. I’m sure you can see where we’re going with this.

Instead of being only a niche income source, the Rubber to Gold debuff is being reworked to now expire after a duration but for that duration it will nullify Bloon properties. Some seriously interesting build options from this.

People thought the last Rubber to Gold changes sounded cool, but were not particularly reliable so we’re improving the reliability of this attack with much faster attack rate and radius and also adding back some of the potion duration that was previously taken away.
