Paragon

Paragons are a special kind of upgrade in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 27.0. They are exceptionally powerful (and exceptionally expensive) upgrades that combine major elements of all three of the tower's tier 5 upgrades. Paragons have massive damage bonuses against Boss Bloons, making them quintessential in Boss Bloon Events, Boss Challenges, and Boss Rushes.
In order to upgrade a tier 5 tower into a Paragon, the following conditions must be met:
- The Paragon upgrade must be unlocked with tower XP. This requires unlocking all of the tower's other upgrades and costs much more XP than other upgrades.
- During gameplay, all three of the tower's tier 5 upgrades must be applied to towers on the map. For example, upgrading a tier 5 Dart Monkey into a Paragon requires having a Dart Monkey with the Ultra-Juggernaut upgrade, a Dart Monkey with the Plasma Monkey Fan Club upgrade, and a Dart Monkey with the Crossbow Master upgrade all on the map at the same time.
- In Sandbox mode, the option to upgrade to a Paragon does not appear unless the player has already used that Paragon at least once in another game mode. This restriction does not exist in the Challenge Editor, however.
- Only one of each Paragon can exist at a time, even in Co-op.
- In Boss Bloon Events, there is a limit to the number of Paragons that can be in play at the same time (usually 4, though it depends on the event).
Once the conditions are met, the option to upgrade to a Paragon appears on all of the tier 5 towers' upgrade panels. Selecting it presents the player the option to invest more cash into the Paragon before upgrading. Once upgraded, the Paragon absorbs all other towers of the same tower type and Paragon Power Totems on the map (including those owned by other players in Co-op), merging them into a single tower. Each Paragon has a Degree stat that affects how powerful it is, which is determined by multiple factors:
- The amount of extra cash invested on the Paragon menu plus the total amount of cash invested into the towers absorbed
- The total number of upgrade tiers on non-tier-5 towers absorbed
- The number of tier 5 towers absorbed besides the three used to create the Paragon
- The total amount of damage dealt and cash produced by all towers absorbed
- The total number of Paragon Power Totems absorbed
With the exception of Paragon Power Totems, each factor has a limit to the value it can contribute to the Paragon's degree. Without Paragon Power Totems, it is only possible to create a maxed-out Paragon in Co-op because it requires several additional tier 5 towers from other players.
Terminology and notation
- Paragons are referred to as their own upgrade tier,[1][2] and internally are considered a sixth upgrade tier. However, they are notated as 5-5-5 towers in Co-op mode.

Paragon power
Paragon power is a measurement of the total "value" of the towers absorbed by the Paragon. It is determined by multiple factors of the towers absorbed, most of which have a limit on the amount of power they can contribute. Some factors share a limit; the power contributed by those factors is combined first, then lowered to the limit, rather than each factor having its own limit.
- Cash invested — 60,000 power max
- 1 power per spent on towers absorbed — the first three tier 5 towers are ignored
- 1 power per spent on the Paragon cost slider (this means using the slider is slightly less cost-efficient)
- Tier 5 towers — 50,000 power max
- 6,000 power per tier 5 tower absorbed — excludes the first three tier 5 towers
- Upgrades — 10,000 power max
- 100 power per upgrade tier of absorbed towers — all absorbed tier 5 towers are ignored by this, including their crosspaths
- Damage/income — 90,000 power max
- 1 power per 180 damage dealt by absorbed towers, as shown on their damage counters
- 1 power per $45 generated by absorbed towers (from Merchantmen, Bloon Traps, etc.), as shown on their income counters
- Paragon Power Totems — no upper limit
- 2,000 power per totem absorbed
Console version
The console version, due to being based on an older build of the mobile version, uses the Paragon power system from before the rework in version 39.0. This version lacks the cost slider, gives much less value from investing cash, and gives much more value from tier 5 towers.
- Cash invested — 10,000 power max
- 1 power per $25 spent on towers absorbed — the first three tier 5 towers are ignored
- Tier 5 towers — 90,000 power max
- 10,000 power per tier 5 tower absorbed — excludes the first three tier 5 towers
Degrees
The Degree of a Paragon is derived from its power. It determines the overall damage output of the Paragon, affecting the attack speed, damage, and pierce of its attacks, the damage of its status effects, and the cooldown of its Activated Abilities if applicable. The Degree cannot be changed after the Paragon is created. Higher Degrees require exponentially more power than lower Degrees. Cosmetically, the Paragon's model changes depending on its Degree, having a different model for every multiple of 20.

Boss damage
In addition to most Paragons' attacks and statuses having an innate damage bonus against Boss Bloons that scales with their Degree (which is specific to each Paragon's attacks and statuses), all Paragons deal 25% more damage to bosses for every 20th Degree. This multiplier affects all damage dealt to Boss Bloons by the Paragon, so the amount of damage the multiplier adds is based on the attack's base damage, MOAB damage bonus, boss damage bonus, and any other damage bonuses the boss may be affected by (i.e. Phayze being affected by the Camo damage bonuses from the Ascended Shadow). It also applies to attacks and statuses that do not inherently deal bonus boss damage, such as Glaive Dominus's burn effect. On top of this, Elite Bosses universally take double damage from Paragons.
| Degree | Normal multiplier | Elite multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 1-19 | ×1 | ×2 |
| 20-39 | ×1.25 | ×2.5 |
| 40-59 | ×1.5 | ×3 |
| 60-79 | ×1.75 | ×3.5 |
| 80-99 | ×2 | ×4 |
| 100 | ×2.25 | ×4.5 |
Takeaways
- Higher Degrees require exponentially more power than lower Degrees, so going for higher Degrees has diminishing returns. It's generally more efficient to go for multiple mid-Degree Paragons than to try to max out Paragons as much as possible.
- Paragons receive significant damage boosts against bosses at every 20th Degree. The difference in damage output between Degree 19 and Degree 20 is much bigger than between Degree 20 and Degree 21, for example, so it's most cost-efficient to just barely reach a 20-Degree threshold.
