Monkey-Nomics is the Banana Farm's path 2 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It replaces the IMF Loan ability with a new ability that makes $9,000 per use ($10,000 with Backroom Deals Backroom Deals) debt-free. The amount of cash made by the ability cannot be increased by buffs such as Monkey City. The ability has a cooldown of 60 seconds and a limit of 2 uses per round. It has a 60-second initial cooldown meaning it must undergo its full cooldown before it can be used for the first time, is disabled if the round lasts for more than 3 minutes, and cannot be used during the break between rounds.

Strategy

As an ability-based income method, Monkey-Nomics benefits from stalling the rounds as much as possible so more abilities can be used per round on average. Stalling means slowing and knocking back the Bloons down as much as possible without popping them all, so the rounds last as long as possible. If stalled to the maximum, the Monkey-Nomics ability can be used 2 times every round, generating $18,000 ($20,000 with Backroom Deals Backroom Deals) per round making it easily one of the best farming towers in the game. However, stalling that much isn't always practical as most attacking towers that can see the map will cancel the stall, and during Ranked Boss Events cash-generating abilities stop cooling down when the penalty timer is counting. Possible stalling methods include using Downdraft, Stickier Glue, Arctic Wind, and/or Horned Owl.

If stalling methods are not employed Monkey-Nomics is generally inferior to the other tier 5 Banana Farms, Banana Central and Monkey Wall Street, until late Freeplay rounds which are much longer than typical ones.

Energizer decreases the ability's cooldown, which serves as a buff to cash production when not maximally stalling. Geraldo's Rejuv Potion will reset the ability's cooldown, which turns a profit as the potion costs less than the ability provides.

Crosspathing

The crosspath for a Monkey-Nomics does not matter much as none of the crosspaths affect the ability. Perhaps surprisingly, Banana Salvage is the preferred crosspath in most cases because it allows the Monkey-Nomics to sell for a greater amount. Also, it makes the Monkey-Nomics automatically withdraw its deposits when full. While Greater Production might seem like it increases cash production, it makes little to no difference when making use of Bank Deposits Bank Deposits. Even without depositing, it takes dozens of rounds for Greater Production to profit more than Banana Salvage after selling, and that's assuming one remembers to withdraw the balance every time the Monkey-Nomics is full.

  • Nerf Overall cost increased by $400 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $4,400 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Nerf Ability: Now starts with its full cooldown
  • Nerf Cash produced per round reduced by $10
  • Nerf Upgrading IMF Loan to Monkey-Nomics while the Farm still has debt permanently disables the ability (bug)
  • Repositioned the collection buttons
  • Nerf Overall cost increased by $200 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
Banana Farm’s xx2 upgrade is the inferior crosspath, so we’ve amped up the utility with the lazy aspect so that if it’s going to be inferior for production, it’s at least going to be extra lazy & less far behind.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Resolved an issue where fractional cash amounts could sometimes round up instead of down (bug fix)
0-5-2
  • Buff Now autocollects at the end of the round with no delay if capacity is full
  • Nerf Overall cost increased by $300 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
For sake of consistency we want Monkey Bank to increase in cash generation when used with sources that externally buff generation so everything works as expected, however along with this buff the current power of IMF loan on this path already feels too strong so we are lowering that power for IMF Loan in exchange.
— Update notes
  • Buff Now increases in cash generation with external buffs
  • Buff Income generation now works with More Valuable Bananas monkey knowledge (undocumented)
  • Nerf Ability cash granted reduced ― $10,000 → $9000
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $450 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Glow indicator of full banks works without 0-X-1 crosspath (bug)
  • Nerf No longer glows when full without the X-X-1 EZ Collect crosspath (bug fix)
