Introduced Version 7.0

Ezili is a Hero in Bloons TD 6, introduced in version 7.0. She can be purchased for Monkey Money 3,000 starting at level 25.

Ezili curses Bloons that she targets, which then take damage over time. Her base attack instantly hits its target, can target over line of sight blockers, and curses the targeted Bloon and deals damage to up to 5 nearby Bloons as well. As she levels up, she can curse multiple Bloons, improve her damage-over-time, and remove special properties from Bloons (even Camo from DDTs at higher levels). She is able to detect Camo Bloons at all levels, and pop all Bloon types other than Purple Bloons, which require her Heartstopper ability.

  • Starting at level 9, her curse attack strips the Camo, Regrow, and Fortified properties of damaged non-MOAB-Class Bloons. She can strip Camo from DDTs starting at level 16.
  • Starting at level 11, she buffs the pierce of all Undead Bloons from every Necromancer on screen.
  • She has three Activated Abilities:
    • Heartstopper (level 3) — For the duration, blocks the Regrow property of all Bloons and removes Purple Bloon immunity.
    • Sacrificial Totem (level 7) — Creates a sacrificial totem, which costs lives but grants extra range, pierce, attack speed, and projectile speed of all towers, especially for Wizard Monkeys.
    • MOAB Hex (level 10) — Inflicts a powerful curse onto a targeted MOAB-Class Bloon, dealing percentage-based damage and preventing them from spawning children. The curse jumps to the next available target once the current target is popped. At level 20, she can affect BADs.

Mechanics

Base attack

Ezili's base attack is a "curse" attack, which instantly hits a target within range (the attack is not a projectile). She curses the targeted Bloon, applying a damage-over-time effect on the target and producing a splash that pops other Bloons. Both the curse and the splash damage can damage all Bloon types other than Purple Bloons or Glass Bloons (Plasma-type damage).

Initially, her damage-over-time effect deals 2 damage every 2.5s and lasts up to 2.6s (meaning the cursed Bloon will take 2 damage instantly from the attack, and 2 more damage after 2.5s), the splash deals 1 damage and has 5 pierce with 8 radius, and she attacks every 1.2s. Her stats improve at higher levels:

Level Upgrade
2 Increases range from 40 to 43
4 Splash curses Bloons instead of just dealing 1 damage (they take the same damage as the primary target)
5 Reduces attack cooldown from 1.2s to 1s (+20% attack speed)
6 Increases main attack damage to MOAB class to 20 (from 1) and curse damage to MOAB class to 30
8 Decreases damage over time delay from 2.5s to 1.8s, increases duration from 2.6s to 5.5s, which make Bloons take 3 ticks of damage over time instead of 1
9 Removes camo, fortified and regrow properties of Bloons (not MOAB class) hit
11 Increases range from 43 to 45
12 Increases main attack damage to MOAB class to 30 (from 20)
13 Increases splash radius from 8 to 11, and pierce from 5 to 15
14 Decreases damage over time delay from 1.8s to 1s, reduces duration from 5.5s to 4.05s, which make Bloons take 4 ticks of damage over time instead of 3
15 Increases range from 45 to 47. Increases curse duration from 4.05s to 6.05s, which make Bloons take 6 ticks of damage over time instead of 4
16 The base attack is now able to remove camo from DDTs
17 Increases splash radius from 11 to 13, and pierce from 15 to 25
18 Reduces attack cooldown from 1s to 0.8s (+25% attack speed)
19 Increases curse damage to 6 (from 2), and curse damage to MOAB class to 31 (from 30)
20 Increases main attack damage to MOAB class to 50 (from 30)

Necromancer Buff

Starting from Level 11, she will increase the pierce of Undead Bloons by 50%.

Abilities

Heartstopper

Prevents Bloons from regrowing and allows Purple and Glass popping. It has a cooldown of 45s, with an initial cooldown of 15s.

The ability has a duration of 10 seconds when activated. During the duration, all Bloons on screen are unable to regrow (if they are Regrow Bloons), and Purple and Glass Bloons lose all immunities (including Blastapopoulos). While under this effect, Regrow Bloons have the same animation they have when passing through a Grow Blocker village.

At level 12, duration is increased to 15s, and the ability cooldown also decreases to 40s.

Sacrificial Totem

Spawns a totem at the target location (can be specified before using the ability) that grants camo detection, +1 pierce, +20% range, 0.85x attack cooldown (equivalent to +17.6% attack speed) and +25% projectile speed to all towers in range of the placed totem. Placing the totem costs 10 lives (unable to place if unable to pay the life cost, and ignores mana shield "lives"). The ability has a cooldown of 90s, with an initial cooldown of 30s.

Wizards also receive an additional +1 pierce, and an additional 0.95x attack cooldown (for a total of 0.8075x attack cooldown, or +23.8% attack speed).

At level 16, the totem lasts 60s (instead of 30s) and only costs 1 life (instead of 10) to use.

The totem has 78 range and can be placed anywhere inside Ezili's attack range, and will disappear after 30s, but can be sold (removed) any time (unless selling is disabled). With enough cooldown reduction (Energizer + The Final Harmonic), 2 totems can be present in the screen at the same time. Totems can't be targeted by any ability and can't be given buffs (in particular, no range buffs).

MOAB Hex

Hexes a MOAB class Bloon (can't be applied to BADs before level 20, and can't be applied to bosses), making it take 4% max HP +1 damage every second for 25 seconds. If the MOAB class Bloon is destroyed while under this effect, it spawns no children, and bounces the Hex to another MOAB class Bloon (if there are on screen) with the remaining duration.

This ability is global, follows targeting priority and can only be activated if there is a valid target on the screen. It has a cooldown of 60 seconds, with an initial cooldown of 20s.

At level 20, the Hex can target BADs, deals 5% max HP + 1 damage every second (instead of 4% max HP +1 damage) and the cooldown decreases to 40s.

Strategy

This section was last updated for: version 50.2

Overall, Ezili is niche but very effective in game modes that allow her abilities to be maximized. She is one of the best Heroes in deep Freeplay, rivalling Adora (who buffs Temples), due to her level 20 MOAB Hex scaling damage on BADs, in addition to her Sacrificial Totem's various buffs. She's good in CHIMPS when using MOAB Hex's chained damage across blimps.

Since her main attack applies damage over time, deals bonus damage to MOABs on later levels and the MOAB Hex ability deals %hp damage, Ezili's targeting priority is usually left on Strong.

For the same reason, most normal buffs are not effective on her, since her base damages are high and come in form of damage over time. She gets way stronger with cooldown reduction buffs (Energizer, The Final Harmonic), though, because of her MOAB Hex ability (and Totem to some extent).

Early game (r1-40)

Ezili is not very effective as a main DPS for the first rounds, although her ability to curse multiple Bloons at level 4 is helpful on denser rounds. She struggles with spaced and fast Bloons because of the lack of attack speed.

The main usefulness of Ezili on early game comes from being able to see camo at all levels, and being able to pop all Bloon types (she can always pop lead with her base attack, and purple when Heartstopper ability is active). She is able to take care of all camos and leads until round 36 on most single lane maps. This ability to pop all Bloon types (including camo) is even more useful in the Alternate Bloons Rounds mode, where these types of Bloons spawn on much earlier rounds than normal.

Due to her being the 2nd cheapest hero (tied with Sauda, more expensive than Quincy), it is easy to get her early (she can even be used as starting tower on most easier maps).

Level 6 Ezili (which gives her bonus MOAB damage) is very effective at popping the round 40 MOAB.

Mid game (r41-80)

Ezili can be very effective as MOAB class damage in mid game, since her base attack deals way more damage to MOAB class Bloons and has decent radius and pierce. She trivializes rounds with low amount of MOAB class Bloons because of her MOAB Hex ability (specially rounds 60 and 80).

She is not very effective at dealing with non MOAB class Bloons, so it is recommended to have a tower able to clean up lower tier Bloons.

If totem is available (non CHIMPS/Impoppable), it can be combined with the fact that she can remove special properties of Bloons (camo, regrow and fortified) at level 9+ to be the only source of camo detection/removal. Without totem, she is not able to decamo everything on some rounds.

Late game (r81-100)

Ezili shines in later rounds mostly thanks to the MOAB Hex ability, for the fact that is able to instakill (not spawn children) of a lot of MOAB class Bloons each round, since it bounces to another target when an affected MOAB class Bloon is destroyed. Her main attack also has decent DPS, but is not enough for it to be a reliable ZOMG killer. Therefore, it should be paired with something that is able to handle some super cerams (since not all MOABs will get hexed) and also deal some MOAB damage to allow the MOAB Hex to apply to as many MOAB class Bloons as possible (again, the most effective part about the ability in these later rounds is the fact that killed MOAB class Bloons do not spawn children).

DDTs are a big Ezili weakness because they are fast and all Ezili damage is dealt over time. MOAB Hex ability also does not help since it deals % max HP and DDTs don't spawn much insides. Even though she can't deal with DDTs by herself, she is great at supporting other towers at dealing with DDTs, since she is able to decamo all of them with her base attack (because it has a big radius and good pierce), or, if she is not in range, she can grant camo detection with her totem.

Ezili comes short at reaching level 20 at round 100 (unless playing on Advanced or Expert map with monkey knowledge), so she will probably not be able to Hex the BAD, unless levels are bought.

Freeplay (r100+)

Ezili is the one of the best heroes at trying to get to highest possible round in almost any situation (map, challenge, etc...)[1][2], mainly because of the extreme value MOAB Hex provides at clearing several BADs and fortified BADs per round. The totem is also useful (outside of CHIMPS), so it is recommended to have some lives stored to be able to use it regularly when rounds get more difficult. Since most of Ezili strength in freeplay comes in form of abilities, it is important to have at least Energizer (which should be included in almost all setups anyways), and The Final Harmonic if possible. Both cooldown reduction buffs with monkey knowledge give slightly more than 100% uptime to Hex and Totem.

Selling Ezili does not get rid of the Hex effect. That allows for having more than one Hex on the screen at the same time (by selling and rebuying Ezili to level 20 quickly, since buying level 20 puts Hex ability at 0s cooldown). MOAB Hex cannot target an already hexed target. The hex will only bounce if there currently is Ezili on the map and she has used one of her own MOAB Hex (the way it works is that all hex can bounce for 25s after using the ability, which is the same duration as one MOAB Hex). There is a bug that when multiple hexes are on screen, the Hex will target close instead of Ezili's targeting, which may be problematic.

Ezili’s niche use is in an extremely strong spot right now so we shouldn’t really buff her, but anyway Heartstopper & Sacrificial Totem both feel too limited in total possible synergies, these are having quality of life improved and Heartstopper will additionally allow all towers to damage Purple Bloons to open up more combination options and give more reason to use it.

  • Buff MOAB Hex should no longer be able to skip its final damage tic (bug fix)
We like Ezili as she is and don’t want to mess with her too much, but currently her level 19 does effectively nothing so we thought it would be nice at this level to shift a little of that MOAB bonus damage on the main attack into raw damage instead.

Ezili has a good anti-camo build, however as her totem cant be used in CHIMPS and her main attack never upgrades to de-camo DDTs this means she is never able to de-camo DDTs when playing in CHIMPS even though her totem easily counters them in the base game. While we don’t have any concerns with some heroes being relegated more as ‘non-chimps’ heroes, we felt no reason not to solve this simple issue by allowing her main attack to upgrade to counter DDTs as well.

Ezili is seeing a slight price reduction, and following a series of strongly worded letters mentioning curses (and a suspicious number of voodoo dolls appearing around the office) we’ve decided to stop 'slandering' Ezili’s figure and have updated her footprint to accurately reflect her true, more 'slender' figure, hopefully bringing out other enticing considerations in early hero selection and preventing our coffee machine from filling up with graveyard dirt. We’ve also simplified some of Ezili’s later levels, combining 2 small range increases and 2 other DoT focus levels to add in a dedicated Heartstopper improvement level to deal with late game purples.
