Super Maelstrom transitions smoothly from Blade Maelstrom as it extends the duration of Blade Maelstrom's ability when upgraded from it while the ability is active. 0-5-2 is the preferred crosspath in Race Events because of the longer duration. Super Maelstrom is also powerful against {{BTD6|Bloonarius}}'s spawns, especially in Timed settings.
Elsewhere, Super Maelstrom is a below average DPS option that falls off on [[Expert]] maps, but fulfills a niche role in cleaning up Super Ceramics for cheaper than most T5s (e.g. [[The Bloon Solver (BTD6)|The Bloon Solver]]).
