Ring of Fire is the Tack Shooter's path 1 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It replaces the Tack Shooter's tacks with an area of effect that shoots twice as fast, deals 5 damage instead of 1, and can pop up to 30 Bloons at once. The radius of the fire ring scales with range buffs. It deals much more damage overall, but deals less damage to MOAB-Class Bloons in general since it only shoots one projectile at a time instead of multiple, and it loses the ability to pop Purple Bloons. Its attack speed and area of effect radius (but not range) are buffed by Gwendolin starting at level 5, which improves at level 18. Ring of Fire and other tier 4 and above Tack Shooters also have slightly elevated lines of sight compared to tier 3 and below Tack Shooters.

Strategy
Ring of Fire excels in Race Events, thanks to its very high pierce and highly effective ability to layer-skip Bloons, in addition to cleaning up Bloonarius's spawns well. There, 4-2-0 is recommended for the pierce increase and for 3-2-0 being the optimal crosspath for its previous upgrade, Hot Shots. Elsewhere, Ring of Fire is a strong mid-game tower for cleanup, reliably popping non-Purple Ceramic Bloons and below that pass through its range, but lacks blimp damage. It falls off starting on Round 81 due to Super Ceramics, and 4-2-0 and 4-0-2 are on roughly even grounds.

Inferno Ring has felt very outclassed for a long time, and more recently the tack shooter was reworked to give pierce on x2x which made the old 402 pierce crosspath not make as much sense anymore. We wanted to start work on both these issues together by reworking how Ring of Fire and Inferno Ring interact with crosspaths — Update notes

The Ring of Fire & Inferno Ring upgrades recently received a crosspath functional rework, as we’re happy with the x2x range/pierce combo now this small follow-up is just to bring a bit more impact to the short-range 402 variant. — Update notes
Ring of Fire doesn’t perform well for the price as a low-range AoE tower with no single target advantage. Since we value the original design intent as low range AoE, we’ve lowered the price to remain a viable choice. — Update notes
Ring of Fire doesn’t keep up well enough for where it is placed, so the attack speed increase from this upgrade has been bumped up from 15% to 25%. — Update notes
Ring of Fire should pick up in that area for cleanup use & general destruction but it has more pierce than it really needs in most scenarios with other important stats sitting lower to compensate for high pierce, so we have shifted this high pierce more into requiring the pierce crosspath in exchange for more base power and an overall buff. — Update notes
