Gwendolin is a Hero in Bloons TD 6. She unlocks upon reaching level 14.

Gwendolin attacks by shooting fireballs at Bloons from her flamethrower. Initially, each flame pops up to 2 Bloons at a rate of every 0.5 seconds. Almost every level improves her flame attack. All of her attacks cannot pop Purple Bloons without support until she reaches at least level 16, and all of her activated abilities can affect Camo.

  • Starting at level 4, she gains a passively generating Heat It Up attack that is triggered every 40 shots from her flamethrower, creating a high-pierce radial fire attack that additionally buffs nearby towers with +1 pierce and gives the ability to pop frozen and Lead Bloons. Starting at level 17, the buff grants additional damage to all Bloons, especially Lead Bloons.
  • Starting at level 5, she grants extra attack speed and radius for Ring of Fire, Dragon's Breath, and Signal Flare, which is improved at level 18.
  • She has two Activated Abilities:
    • Cocktail of Fire (level 3) — Drops a cocktail onto a targeted location within her range, creating a blaze (similar to Wall of Fire) that constantly damages non-Purple Bloons that pass through it.
    • Firestorm (level 10) — Damages and burns all non-Purple Bloons on screen and immediately applies a Heat It Up effect for all other towers on screen.

Mechanics

Main attack

Gwendolin's main attack is a flamethrower that shoots flame projectiles. It deals 1 Fire-type damage and has 2 pierce, and she attacks every 0.5 seconds.

18 Attack cooldown reduces to 0.15 seconds.
19 Shoots three projectiles at a time in parallel.

Heat it up

Heat it up unlocks at level 4. It is a burst of fire that damages nearby Bloons and buffs nearby towers. The attack triggers at Gwendolin's position every 40 shots or after 1.5 seconds since it last triggered, whichever takes longer. It has 100 pierce, 38 range, and deals 3 damage. The buff gives towers +1 pierce and allows them to pop Lead Bloons and frozen Bloons, and lasts for 8 seconds.

Levels
Level Effect
4 3 Damage, 38 range, 100 pierce
7 Damage and buff radius increased to 43
11 Damage and buff radius increased to 46
12 Damage increased to 10.
15 Damage increased to 20.
16 Can now damage Purple Bloons.
17 Buff now gives +1 damage and +2 damage to Lead Bloons.
18 Damage increased to 30.

Pyrotechnics Expert

Pyrotechnics Expert[1] is a tower buff that unlocks at level 5. It has infinite range and applies to all Tack Shooters upgraded to Ring of Fire and above (except Crucible of Steel and Flame), Mortar Monkeys upgraded to Signal Flare and above, and Wizard Monkeys upgraded to Dragon's Breath and above (except Magus Perfectus), reducing their attack cooldown and increasing their projectile radius by 10%. Starting at level 18, the effect increases to 20%.

Abilities

Cocktail of Fire

Cocktail of Fire unlocks at level 3. It causes Gwendolin to throw a molotov cocktail on the track, creating a Wall of Fire-like projectile that rapidly damages Bloons that pass through it. The cocktail's landing point can be set to anywhere within Gwendolin's range using the targeting option, even behind line of sight blockers. It deals fire-type damage every 0.2 seconds to up to 20 Bloons at a time, lasts for 12 seconds, and has a 30-second cooldown.

Levels
Level Effect
3 Deals 1 damage every 0.2 seconds to 20 bloons per tick in a radius of 15.
7 Deals damage twice as fast and can hit up to 40 Bloons per tick. Radius of the fire wall increases to 20.
11 Can hit up to 60 Bloons per tick. Targeting range increases slightly.
14 Deals 2 damage per tick instead of 1 and now inflicts a damage over time effect on MOAB-Class Bloons that deals 5 damage every second for 10 seconds.
16 Can now damage Purple Bloons.
20 Deals 5 damage per tick with the fire and 8 damage per tick with the damage over time effect.

Firestorm

Firestorm unlocks at level 10. It causes Gwendolin to hurl a firestorm throughout the entire map, burning and damaging all non-Purple bloons (until Level 16+) and triggering Heat It Up to every tower. The initial damage inflicts 5 damage, 20 to MOAB-class. Afterwards, a burn damage-over-time is applied, dealing 2 damage every 0.5 seconds to non-blimps and 15 damage every 1.0 seconds to MOAB-class, lasting up to 8 seconds. The ability has a cooldown of 60 seconds.

Levels
Level Effect
10 5 initial damage, 20 to MOAB-class, 2 damage per 0.5 second to bloons, 15 damage per 1 second to MOAB class, 8 second duration
16 Affects Purples, burn lasts for 10.4 seconds and does extra damage per tick (bloons: 5, MOAB-class: 20).
17 Gains the improved Heat It Up effect unlocked at Level 17.
20 Initial damage increased to 10 to bloons, 50 to MOAB-class. Burn does extra damage per tick (bloons: 10, MOAB-class: 30).

Gwendolin stands out in strategies that need consistent lead-popping against DDTs and do generally low base damage and attack quickly, as assisted by her Heat-It-Up, plus multiple ways to pop large groups of non-Purple Bloons. Place her close to the main defenses.

Gwendolin’s Heat it Up! attack/buff has been sitting in a weird spot where it would benefit from attack speed but does not because of the cooldown which prevents it ever having full uptime. This rework makes her have a roughly similar uptime at all levels without being buffed, however she will now benefit properly with increased uptime depending on any rate modifiers applied to her. A fully juiced Gwendolin around level 15 or 18 should now be capable of achieving 100% buff uptime

The last Gwendolin change didn't come through as well as intended for a number of reasons, so while keeping true to the intention behind this change it has been improved across the board to properly buff this again

As she’s a little average all around these days with other heroes overtaking in the past years, Gwendolin is seeing some improved quality of life, synergization, and extra juice to the initial hit of Firestorm since currently the ability is, well, not heroic enough and the first impact does very little compared to the DoT.

  •   Lv18 Pyrotechnics Master: Ring of Fire, Signal Flare & Dragon's Breath buff increased from 10% to 20%

  •   Firestorm: initial MOAB damage increased ― 5 → 50
For now with a noteworthy direct comparison to Brickell and the use cases for these two heroes we have done a price swap keeping the lesser of the two at the lower price point. However as 750 would put gwen on the same cost as Striker Jones and we want starts with base 4 heroes to stay more diverse we have taken her down a little extra on top of that.

Looking back over her kit, we noticed that we’ve never improved the actual attack itself for Gwen’s Heat it Up. Allowing her to be juiced up with high attack speed in order to spam these supercharged bursts of damage sounds fun and cool, so while noting that this will also increase the uptime of her buff we’re removing the limiter on her Heat it Up rate and pumping up its damage tenfold.

Gwendolin’s Heat it Up was recently reworked to allow for much more frequent triggering from attacks, however the 4.5s internal cooldown still limits it from being scaled up far so that internal cooldown is now also being reduced. Additionally, Heat it Up’s bonus buff to damage against Lead targets has been improved slightly so we can get more out of that niche.
