Cold Snap (formerly named Metal Freeze before Version 28.0) is the Ice Monkey's path 1 tier 2 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It allows the Ice Monkey to damage and freeze Lead Bloons and allows it to target and hit Camo Bloons. This upgrade also grants several crosspathing perks:

• The slowing zone of Arctic Wind and above is granted the ability to affect Lead Bloons.
• Cryo Cannon and above is granted Camo Prioritization.

Strategy

As a standalone tower, Cold Snap's strengths are against the Round 31-40 Golden Bloon and for stalling the Camo Regrow Ceramic insides of DDTs, both with the 2-1-0 crosspath. Otherwise, Cold Snap is used as a crosspath for Tier 3+ Ice Monkeys of the other two paths when the innate ability to affect Camo, Lead, or both is desired. However, when external support for Camo and Lead can be obtained at a reasonable cost, such as 2 Acidic Mixture Dips and 1 Radar Scanner for Icicle Impale, crosspathing with Cold Snap is not recommended.

Trivia

• Despite the upgrade allowing the Ice Monkey to pop lead and camo, its upgrade depicts a Red Bloon. This could be a holdover from BTD5's Snap Freeze upgrade, which may have been in a beta for BTD6.
