For most Mermonkeys, especially lower-tier Mermonkeys and higher-tier top path, this pierce bonus is mainly impactful on Race conditions. For bottom path, Sharper Prongs can help handle large groups of Bloons for the T3, though for the T4 and T5 the pierce bonus is minimal and overall less effective than the better consistency of top crosspath.
