Improved Rangs increases the pierce of the Boomerang by 4 for a total of 8. It grants additional benefits to {{B|MOAB Press|BTD6}} and {{B|MOAB Domination|BTD6}}, improving the pierce of their heavy kylies (which knockback blimps) by 100.

Improved Rangs is a strong tower for the first rounds with {{BTD6 mk|Recurring 'Rangs}}, which allows it to loop twice and maximize its pierce much more effectively. Without Recurring 'Rangs, Improved Rangs is only useful as a crosspath.

 

For crosspathing purposes, it is almost always recommended to upgrade further to {{B|Glaives|BTD6}} when crosspathing with Improved Rangs to maximize crosspath benefits. Improved Rangs is optimal for {{B|Bionic Boomerang|BTD6}} and {{B|Turbo Charge|BTD6}}, both of which greatly benefit from increased pierce. {{B|MOAB Press|BTD6}} and {{B|Perma Charge|BTD6}} prefer Improved Rangs as the crosspath situationally, the former on maps with one entrance per round and the latter when anti-[[Lead Bloon (BTD6)|Lead]] support against {{B|DDT|BTD6}}s is needed for other towers as well. In nearly all cases, Improved Rangs is the sub-par crosspath for {{B|Kylie Boomerang|BTD6}} and {{B|MOAB Domination|BTD6}}.
