Caltrops (BTD6): Difference between revisions

Strategy: i prefer "lower-tier", and despite popular terminology I don't think "base" is unambiguous. One of the few times that Qwertyxp2000 terminology is better, I reckon. Also shinobi mention, it's gooood in freeplay with pbrew, or just with pbrew in general

Caltrops is a separate attack from the shuriken that adds additional DPS to the Ninja for a relatively low cost. It is usually not necessary if only the lower-tier Ninja (Tier 2 and below) is purchased for the early game, and is often skipped if the budget is tight, but can be used if building into a Double Shot or Bloonjitsu. If upgrading to a Grandmaster Ninja there is little reason to not purchase it because the attack still benefits from buffs such as Shinobi or Berserker Brew. For Shinobi Tactics, Caltrops is capable of dealing plenty of damage to single-target when buffed with Permanent Brew and multiple 0-3-2, but without it then it's not so necessary for 0-3-1 Shinobis.

That being said, some players skip Caltrops as a crosspath if lag is a concern with Shinobi spam.
