The Legend of the Night is unique for being one of, if not, the strongest tower in the game that does not require any form of additional sacrifices. Despite this, it is outclassed by a max True Sun God, and in turn VTSG, for damage output alone.

The Legend of the Night is both one of the costliest and strongest single tower upgrades, thus making it stand out on Least Tiers in Boss Events.

It shines in extreme freeplay for its Black Hole passive ability that can take down any bloon that leaks with its biggest perk in which leaking when activating its black hole does not consume any lives, allowing several BADs to leak without issue. But however its downsides is that it is limited to two activations per round, its short duration, and has a long cooldown. (as it is considered and ability, it's cooldown can be reduced with Energizer.) Despite this, it has a very good synergy with the Time Stop power, although its attack speed will be reduced, its slows down bloons, including BADs, technically giving it better uptime.
Although not seeing much use against other Bosses, its passive black hole ability is valuable against Phayze in Boss Rush due to its tendency to pull Bloons directly to the exit, and against Bloonarius, whose sludge DDTs can escape quickly on shorter maps. It can also be used in Freeplay, but mind its long cooldown (which can be reduced by Energizer). Furthermore, VTSG deals more damage compared to using both it and The Anti-Bloon, though with careful timing the player can sell VTSG as a last resort, then use LOTN to prolong their high score. This strategy is excellent when paired with stall setups and Time Stops, where the player can consistently get one use per round and destroy several BADs.

Legend of the Night also has seen some use in ranked boss events against Phayze in least tiers and least cash, as it serves a similar purpose to Ascended Shadow at a lower price point.
2-0-5 is preferred for increased DPS, but is not necessary in the aforementioned Least Tiers or Freeplay stall strategies.
