Caltrops is a separate attack from the shuriken that adds additional DPS to the Ninja for a relatively low cost. It is usually not necessary if only the base Ninja (Tier 2 and below) is purchased for the early game, and is often skipped if the budget is tight, but can be used if building into a [[Double Shot (BTD6) (Ninja Monkey)|Double Shot]] or [[Bloonjitsu (BTD6)|Bloonjitsu]].
