Tyrannosaurus Rex is the Beast Handler's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. The Beast Handler now handles a tyrannosaurus rex instead of a velociraptor. Its Beast Power is increased by +8, changing its Beast Power scale from 8–24 to 16–64.

The T-Rex has 30 range instead of 24, and its bites have 18 radius, plus increased damage, further bonus damage to stunned Bloons, and more pierce. Merges improve its damage, bonus stunned damage, and pierce, plus reduced attack cooldowns. Its bonus Ceramic damage is also increased from +4 to +5, but doesn't improve from merges.

  • Damage: Increased from 4–16 to 20–60.
  • Bonus stunned damage: +3–7 to +8–21
  • Pierce: Increased from 12–26 to 20–45.
  • Attack cooldown: Starts at 1s, which decreases to 0.6561s at max Beast Power.

Additionally, it gains the Stomp ability, creating a blast over 100 radius that deals high damage and stuns affected Bloons, including MOAB-Class Bloons (excluding BADs and Boss Bloons), with a cooldown of 40 seconds (down to 19.03 seconds at max Power). Bloons stunned by the Stomp ability are stunned for 6 seconds, 3 for MOABs and BFBs, and 2 for ZOMGs and DDTs. Merges improve the damage and pierce and speed up ability cooldowns.

  • Damage: 150–202
  • Pierce: 400–433
  • Ability cooldown: 40–19.03 seconds

At Power 64, all of its attacks can penetrate damage through layers of MOAB-class Bloons.

T-Rex is a strong tower for its cost, but requires frequent repositioning to where the most dangerous Bloons and blimps are to maximize its potential. At Power 16, it is fairly unreliable, but provides a strong burst of both damage and support with its stomp ability, in addition to one-shotting pre-Round 81 Ceramics. Power 64 T-Rex is much more reliable and powerful, especially due to its ability to skip blimp layers.

Power 16 T-Rex can be used as an inconsistent but strong tower that performs both damage and support, but its power falls off after Round 80, especially on Expert maps, due to its inability to one-shot Super Ceramics. The max Power 64 T-Rex is virtually required for any significant Super Ceramic cleanup and, most importantly, being able to skip blimp layers. To obtain a Power 64 T-Rex, merge 6 Velociraptors into a Power 16 T-Rex, as additional T-Rex merges are far more inefficient.

As our newest tower to be added to BTD6, we went over feedback for every path and made a large number of adjustments addressing a variety of points.
— Update notes
  • Buff Top and Middle path Beast Handler paths can now be targeted by Overclock and Ultraboost
  • Buff Tyrannosaurus Rex and Giganotosaurus Max Merge Bonus: Overkill damage on MOABs now distributes to the children of that target
  • Neutral Stomp ability now scales with Challenge Editor ability cooldown slider (bug fix)
Beast Handler’s general repositioning feels far too free right now, the reposition cooldown is being increased to a more reasonably noticeable number so this feels like a meaningful cost.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Beast: Reposition cooldown increased ― 0.5s → 5s
  • Nerf Tyrannosaurus Rex should no longer double cooldown buffs from Energizer sub (bug fix)
  • Now correctly records damage when max merged (bug fix)
  • Buff Beast Handler reposition cooldown reduced ― 5s → 3s
T-Rex has been generally too strong while still sitting in a spot we like in terms of gameplay so we have slightly reduced damage and pierce.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Tyrannosaurus Rex damage reduced ― 32 → 30
  • Nerf Tyrannosaurus Rex damage scale reduced ― 64 → 60
    • Note: Max T-Rex damage decreased from 96 to 90
  • Nerf  Tyrannosaurus Rex pierce reduced ― 24 → 22
  • Nerf  Tyrannosaurus Rex pierce scale reduced ― 36 → 33
    • Note: Max T-Rex pierce decreased from 60 to 55
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $485 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
In going over our large list of price changes for Beast Handler’s lower tiers in 42 this change was received very positively, however we did not realize that in making this change we killed off all chance of dual-beast handlers being used as a round 1 starting option for under $650 in hard modes – So we gotta do that math all over again and convert it for difficulty, painful 😀 All T1 beast prices changed to allow 110 & 101 beast handler combos to be placed for under $650 in hard mode, all T2 & T3 prices shifted around to keep these same cost ratios. [...] We’re slightly reducing beast reposition cooldown as the tiny range leaves movement very tight, which is especially painful for Microraptor path given the low range.
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $185 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Beast: Reposition cooldown reduced ― 3s → 2s
  • Buff Dinosaurs: Now spawns within 30% of their range to the track
Now that the many T1-3 upgrade price changes are settling we’re looking at the next tier up. It does feel deserving of a fairly high level of power compared to other dps towers however the T-rex currently offers too much for the cost so its damage is decreasing.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Attack base damage reduced ― 30 → 26 (Does not carry over to Giganotosaurus)
  • Nerf Attack damage Beast Power range reduced ― 60 → 52
    • Note: Max power T-Rex damage reduced from 90 to 78, also reduces the Beast Power modifier to its max bonus stunned damage from +28 to +25. Does not affect Giganotosaurus.
  • Nerf Merging/Beast positioning range reduced ― 60 → 50
As a quality of life improvement, Beast Handler movement cooldowns have now been separated
— Update notes
  • Buff Fish & Dino beast reposition cooldowns are now independent
T-Rex is generally powerful in a lot of ways, and as the ability cooldown is quite short, we are increasing the cooldown.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Stomp ability: Ability cooldown increased ― 35s → 40s
    • Note: Does not affect Giganotosaurus
  • Buff Can now move beasts onto ice and ink platforms. Beasts with only ice/ink platforms as valid placement will no longer randomly choose a location when attempting to place into ice/ink platforms. (undocumented)
  • Buff Merging/Beast positioning range increased ― 50 → 60
Middle Path handler has been a powerful carry that scales too well, we’ve decided to shift a portion of its damage into ceramic bonus to hit down its lategame MOAB dps while leaving its power against super ceramics.
— Update notes
  • Nerf T-Rex: Base damage decreased ― 26 → 20
  • Nerf T-Rex: Bonus damage from Beast Power decreased ― +52 → +40
    • Note: Max T-Rex damage decreased from 78 to 60
  • Nerf T-Rex: Base pierce decreased ― 22 → 18
  • Nerf T-Rex: Bonus pierce from Beast Power decreased ― +33 → +27
    • Note: Max T-Rex pierce decreased from 55 to 45
  • Buff T-Rex: Now does +5 Ceramic damage regardless of Beast Power
2-4-0
  • Nerf Crosspathing Barracuda with Microraptor, Golden Eagle, or their higher tiers now reduces the range of the Barracuda ― 35 → 30 (bug)
    • Neutral Overall range with these crosspaths is effectively the same as it was prior to this update
2-4-0
  • Buff Barracuda: Range increased to match other crosspaths ― 30 → 35 (bug fix)
