Icicle Impale is the Ice Monkey's path 3 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. The main attack is improved to deal 50 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons (from 10), its projectile gains +1 radius, and can damage Zebra and White Bloons.

On top of those improvements, Icicle Impale is able to freeze MOAB-Class Bloons and, if crosspathed with Permafrost, apply permafrost to them with half effectiveness (permanent -25% speed). A frozen ZOMG moves at 2.25 units per second and other frozen MOAB-Class Bloons (excluding the BAD, which cannot be frozen) move at 5 units per second. The speed is not affected by difficulty, or any modifiers from round ramping or challenge rules.

Strategy

Icicle Impale is a unique tower that performs a mix of support and damage, being especially strong against DDTs while also neutralizing other non-BAD blimps relatively well. However, it faces fierce competition from Super Glue, which replicates its functionality at a cheaper cost and pulls ahead when used with Sauda or Pop and Awe.

Icicle Impale is best paired with towers (both damage and support) that fare well on dense rounds (which it struggles to), such as MOAB Press and Glaive Lord. 0-2-5 is usually the better crosspath, 2-0-5's innate DDT poppimg power and Permafrost capabilities is preferred if camo detection is needed, but 0-2-5 grants increased attack speed, pierce, and freeze duration, greatly enhancing its stalls and overall DPS. Use 2 Acidic Mixture Dips (both with only Icicle Impale in their range) and Radar Scanner to allow the 0-2-5 Icicle Impale to handle DDTs.

While Icicles is quite fun for midgame cleanup, we acknowledge points raised on Cryo Cannon trading off it’s freeze prowess too quickly when the smaller freeze area even with such a fast rate increase still overall makes it struggle to slow as effectively. To counter this a little we have doubled the freeze radius of Cryo Cannon, but also increased damage of both the Ice Balls & Icicles to highlight more the intention of this path swapping to a damage hybrid earlier.
