Strategy

This section was last updated for: version 49.3

Sky Shredder is a highly versatile global range tower that is suitable for all players, having a high skill ceiling but reasonable skill floor. This is due to its decent damage that becomes exceptional when proper Ace micro is executed. The missiles break down blimps, which the darts can mostly clean up, albeit with some leaks. It benefits from buffs such as Berserker Brew which take advantage of its many projectiles.

The 5-0-2 crosspath is generally superior, as Sharper Darts grants much-needed pierce to the darts and Centered Path greatly enhances mobility, compared to 5-2-0's extra pierce to missiles which is still good but doesn't have as much consistent group-popping of blimps. Towers/Heroes that can clean up its leaks, such as Adora and The Bloon Solver, are recommended to supplement it. Rosalia is also a strong Hero option due to her solid supplemental damage, knockback, and 10% discount to all nearby Aces.

  • Buff Dart attack: Damage increased by 1
  • Buff All attacks: Ceramic damage bonus added ― +0 → +2
  • Nerf Missile attack: Attack cooldown increased ― 1.5s → 2s (attack speed reduced by 25%)
  • Buff Missile explosion: Pierce increased ― 1 → 5
  • Nerf Missile explosion: No longer damages DDTs (bug)
  • Nerf Missile explosion: Damage reduced ― 25 → 18
  • Nerf Main attack: Can no longer hit Camo Bloons without Camo detection
  • Buff Can damage visible DDTs again without buffs (bug fix)
Monkey Ace was never intended to be a great starting tower and instead come into power at mid- and high-tier upgrades, but since the base tower feels lacking to new players (and some of us old timers) we decided to rework low tier power into the base tower.
— Update notes
  • Buff Dart projectile size increased ― 2 → 3
5-1-0, 5-2-0
  • Buff Exploding Pineapple: attack cooldown reduced ― 1.6s → 1.2s
Monkey Ace has had an overall rework to a lot of different upgrades in order to highlight the x1x Exploding Pineapples upgrade as a buff to all explosives [...]
— Update notes
5-1-0, 5-2-0
  • Buff Exploding Pineapple now increases the pierce of the missile attack's explosion by 2 ― 5 → 7
  • Buff Exploding Pineapple now increases the radius of the missile attack's explosion by 4.5 units ― 30 → 34.5
More of a straight quality of life, Ace has gained a new special toggle button to allow it to turn back and fly in reverse on any selected flight pattern.
— Update notes
  • Buff Reverse flight pattern added
Sky Shredder has a higher skill ceiling than most towers so has evaded many nerfs, but is still too good for what it offers so is finally seeing a slight price increase
— Update notes
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $40,000 → $41,500
Sky Shredder somewhat justifies its power as one of the very best towers in the game, although everything at this level is a bit too cheap.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $41,500 → $42,500
5-1-0, 5-2-0
  • Nerf Pineapple reload rate reduced ― 1.2s → 1.275s
    • Note: Rapid Fire's cooldown modifier changed from 0.6× to 0.75×
Fighter Plane’s missiles often get stuck circling slower targets until they expire, since Ace can’t reasonably plan against this the missile turn acceleration has been tweaked to reduce chance of this happening.
— Update notes
  • Buff Missile: max turn speed increased ― 400 → 500
  • Nerf Missile: turn acceleration reduced ― 160 → 150
5-2-0
  • Buff Bonus damage to Camo Bloons increased for all attacks, except Anti-MOAB missiles ― +1 → ×2
  • Nerf Missile attack: Projectile lifespan reduced ― 24s → 16.8s
    • Note: Projectile speed remains the same, meaning that the distance traveled by the projectile is reduced from 600 units to 420 units.
5-1-0, 5-2-0
  • Buff Missile attack: The explosion now leaves a Exploding Pineapple in the ground, with the same stats as the regular drop

Footnotes

  1. This almost never matters, as the MOAB Missile can only target and damage MOAB-Class Bloons. Only Dreadbloon's Ceramic Shell is considered both Ceramic and MOAB-Class.
