Favored Trades is the Monkey Buccaneer's path 3 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It reduces the attack cooldown of the Monkey Buccaneer's attacks, increases the amount of cash generated from $200 to $500 per round ($520 with Trade Agreements Trade Agreements), and provides a buff to itself and towers within its range which increases their sell value by 4% stacking up to 3 times for a maximum of 12% (capped at maximum of 95% of their cost). Additionally, its damage is increased by ×2 if the player's cash is $10,000–$49,999, or ×3 at $50,000 or more; in Co-op, only the owner's cash determines the damage buff of the Favored Trades.

If buffed by Trade Empire, it gains +$20 cash production per Favored Trades (stacking up to 20 times in total), +1 damage, +1 Ceramic damage, and +1 MOAB damage to all attacks. Favored Trades are prioritized by Trade Empire's buffs before any Merchantmen, which have weaker cash production.

Darts have a cooldown of 0.5 seconds. If given Grape Shot, the attack cooldown for the grapes are reduced from 1.3s to 0.75s. Hot Shot's burn damage is improved from 2 to 4.

Favored Trades is less cost-efficient than Merchantman when used for income, so it is only recommended as an upgrade after maxing out Buccaneers or once 20 Merchantmen have been bought with a Trade Empire. However, the extra sellback from Favored Trades makes it stand out. Against Boss Bloons, using Favored Trades to sell income-generating towers before a Boss appears is strongly recommended, as doing so grants more cash against the Boss and for future farming. The extra sellback is also beneficial when selling and rebuying towers, such as MOAB Eliminator for instant ability resets for Boss instakills.

Using multiple Favored Trades to stack bonus sellback is only more efficient for expensive setups. Every additional Favored Trades for bonus sellback becomes less valuable for profit. In most situations, using 2 sellback stacks will provide a great ratio between the cost of purchasing the boats and the sell bonus. 3 stacks are only recommended for selling very expensive towers. For selling towers located far from water, Players can also use Special Poperations with the Door Gunner Door Gunner MK to carry a Favored Trades following the cursor, which provides one bonus stack in any point of the map.

While Favored Trades improves DPS for its darts, grapes, and Hot Shot DoT, it still does weak damage. Not crosspathing Favored Trades is recommended in most cases for maximizing income. When damage is needed, Hot Shots is the far superior crosspath due to the higher pierce grapes and increased DoT being far superior to the benefits of Double Shot. 0-2-4 is also the recommended crosspath to farm pops which in addition to the income and the ability to cover the 100 upgrade tiers requirement with 20× 0-2-4 boats, they can provide a large amount of Paragon Power for a high degree Navarch of the Seas in the lategame.

Like Merchantman, the cash-based damage scaling of Favored Trades is not recommended outside of defensive usage with Trade Empire strategies. Favored Trades also receives less from discounts compared to Merchantman and has a much slower damage scale relative to its cost.

Favored Trades stacking was never intended to be a feature but we previously updated the description to support the stacking instead of changing functionality, so this has now been corrected.

Buccaneer’s Merchantmen path will now gain a damage bonus based on how much spare cash you have on-hand. This introduces a fun trade-off where you can choose to hold onto cash for a combat boost at the cost of losing advantage from immediately snowballing into more economy. It’s kinda neat
