Inferno Ring is the Tack Shooter's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. The Inferno Ring's flame ring from Ring of Fire deals increased damage (8 damage and +4 MOAB-Class damage), gains +15 pierce (45 without 5-2-0), +11.5 range (34.5 base range), and attacks every 0.1 seconds (3.15x attack speed, or 68.25% reduced attack cooldown). Additionally, it gains a new meteor attack that seeks to any target on screen and ignores any other Bloons it passes, dealing 700 damage to the target and creating a high-damage burning blast upon expiring if it doesn't hit a Purple Bloon. Both attacks deal Fire type damage.

Mechanics

Meteor

The meteor seeks towards targets, dealing 700 damage (1,000 with Even More Tacks) to the intended target(s) with infinite range, following standard targeting priorities. It has 1 pierce (2 with Super Range Tacks) that can be buffed, and once all pierce is used it creates an explosion that does 50 damage with 10 pierce and burns any non-Purple (50 damage per second for 4.1 seconds). The meteor is shot every 4 seconds. The meteor can only collide with the targeted bloon (therefore, it can't get blocked by other bloons), and cannot retarget the same bloon twice (only applied when it has more than 1 pierce). If no new targets are found, the meteor will continue moving in the same direction and is able to escape the screen when no targets are on screen.

Monkey Knowledge

Inferno Ring's range is increased by 3 units with   Big Inferno.

Strategy

This section was last updated for: version 50.2

Inferno Ring has a difficult saveup in exchange for performing much better against MOAB class bloons, but is still only an average win condition that requires a lot of support. The high-damage meteor attack needs pierce buffs, such as Primary Training, Berserker Brew, and Stronger Stimulant, for it to do anything meaningful. Without a Symphonic Resonance to move bloons inside of its radius, Inferno Ring leaks too often to both DDTs and ceramics. An Overclock may be necessary if it struggles to pop bloons before they escape its range while also increasing the attack rate of the meteor. The targeting of the meteor should be set on Strong to get the most out of its single target damage.

Gwendolin is the best Hero for Inferno Ring because of her attack speed buffs. Bottom crosspath is better if Inferno Ring's pierce can be buffed for more overall damage. Otherwise, middle crosspath is better, as the +1 pierce to the meteor becomes more important without buffs.

  •   Main attack: Damage to MOAB-class increased ― +3 → +6
  •   Main attack: Base damage increased ― 2 → 4
  •   Meteor attack added
  •   Meteor attack: Attack cooldown reduced ― 7s → 4s (attack speed increased by 75%)
  •   Meteor attack: Now creates an explosion on contact with the first Bloon that does damage and applies DoT
  • Changed the visual effect of the fire bursts
“
Inferno Ring has felt very outclassed for a long time, and more recently the tack shooter was reworked to give pierce on x2x which made the old 402 pierce crosspath not make as much sense anymore. We wanted to start work on both these issues together by reworking how Ring of Fire and Inferno Ring interact with crosspaths
— Update notes
”
5-0-1
  •   More Tacks no longer grants Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring +10 pierce
5-0-2
  •   Even More Tacks no longer grants Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring +10 pierce
    •   Stacks with changes to More Tacks; overall pierce of this crosspath reduced by 20
  •   Even More Tacks now grants Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring +1 damage
5-1-0
  •   Long Range Tacks now grants Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring +10 pierce
5-2-0
  •   Super Range Tacks now grants Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring +10 pierce
    •   Stacks with changes to Long Range Tacks; overall pierce of this crosspath increased by 20
“
The Ring of Fire & Inferno Ring upgrades recently received a crosspath functional rework, as we’re happy with the x2x range/pierce combo now this small follow-up is just to bring a bit more impact to the short-range 402 variant.
— Update notes
”
5-0-1
  •   Damage increased ― 4 → 5
5-0-2
  •   Damage increased ― 5 → 6
  •   Overall cost reduced by $1,000 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
“
Inferno Ring is priced high for a low single-target damage pierce based tower when pierce isn't as important at high rounds, so price has been reduced.
— Update notes
”
  •   Upgrade cost reduced ― $50,000 → $45,500
“
Inferno Ring itself feels ok but for the difficult saveup not so much, so as a bit of a buff we have added crosspathing to the Meteor attack.
— Update notes
”
5-2-0
  •   Super Range Tacks now increases the pierce of the meteor attack by 1
5-0-2
  •   Even More Tacks now increases the meteor attack's damage by 300
  •   Meteor Explosion: no longer has single-layer damage (undocumented)
“
Ring of Fire should pick up in that area for cleanup use & general destruction but it has more pierce than it really needs in most scenarios with other important stats sitting lower to compensate for high pierce, so we have shifted this high pierce more into requiring the pierce crosspath in exchange for more base power and an overall buff. Inferno Ring’s meteor will now also follow target priority since that was a fun idea that was worth adding.
— Update notes
”
  •   Main attack: Base damage increased ― 4 → 8
  •   Main attack: MOAB-class bonus reduced ― +6 → +4
  •   Meteor attack: Now follows Target Priority instead of locked on Strong
    • Note: Still defaults to Strong
  •   Pierce reduced ― 60 → 40
  •   Meteor attack: Targeting now defaults to First instead of Close (bug fix)
  •   "Targeting priority inconsistency resolved" (bug fix)
“
[...] Ring of Fire also generally has too high a pierce amount for how effective it is at utilizing its full pierce value.
— Update notes
”
  •   Pierce reduced ― 40 → 30
5-1-0
  •   Long Range Tacks no longer grants +10 pierce to Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring
    •   Stacks with a nerf to the base pierce; overall pierce with this crosspath reduced ― 50 → 30
5-2-0
  •   Super Range Tacks grants more pierce to Ring of Fire/Inferno Ring ― +10 → +15
    •   Stacks with Long Range Tacks and a nerf to the base pierce; overall pierce with this crosspath reduced ― 60 → 45
“
Inferno Ring didn’t need the pierce reduction that was last applied to Ring of Fire so we’re adding this back.
— Update notes
”
  •   Main attack: Pierce increased ― 30 → 45
    • Stacks with X-2-X Super Range Tacks crosspath ― 45 → 60
  •   Overall cost reduced by $20 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  •   Meteor: explosion no longer hits camo without Camo detection (bug fix)
  •   Overall cost reduced by $80 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
