Absolute Zero

Ability is so cold it freezes all regular Bloons for longer, including White, Zebra, and Camo, slows MOAB-class longer, and greatly increases the attack speed of all Ice Monkeys for the duration.

Absolute Zero, also known as AZ, is the Ice Monkey's path 2 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It gains +10 range on all of its effects, +5 more layers (from 3 to 8) on its Freeze, and +255 pierce (45 to 300) on its main attack, and the ability to attack MOAB-Class Bloons (which cannot be frozen, but can have Permafrost (which lasts +5 layers as well) applied if crosspathed).

The ability gains a cooldown reduction to 20 second, the removal of its initial cooldown, the ability to target otherwise immune Bloons and blimps (excluding BADs and Boss Bloons), and a cooldown reduction to 20 seconds that is not reduced by any Bloon property. The ability also buffs the attack speed of all Ice Monkeys by 50% for 10 seconds, and further info for it can be found in Snowstorm's ability section.

The Arctic Wind zone now applies -60% speed instead of -40% speed, and it applies -30% speed to MOAB-Class Bloons (excluding BADs and Boss Bloons) as well. The slow does not apply to immune or invisible Bloons, but DDTs can be slowed without Lead support when Absolute Zero has Camo detection. In addition, its main attack is able to freeze all other non-MOAB-Class Bloons on the screen for 0.75 seconds, including those otherwise immune to it (such as Zebra Bloons, Lead Bloons, and Camo Bloons, the latter two without Cold Snap).

Mechanics

Radial freeze

The Absolute Zero's primary attack which freezes bloons within range for 2.2 seconds. It can attack MOAB-Class Bloons, applying permafrost if crosspathed. This attack triggers the secondary freeze.

Arctic Wind

Absolute Zero applies -60% speed to all bloons in range, as well as allowing land towers to be placed on water within range.

Secondary freeze

Absolute Zero's secondary freeze triggers whenever its radial freeze attacks. It freezes all other non-blimps on screen for 0.75s, and can refreeze bloons.

Ability

The Absolute Zero ability has a 20 second cooldown and when activated will freeze all bloons on screen for 10 seconds. The ability also applies a slowing effect to MOAB-Class Bloons, visually covering them in snow. Additionally, the ability buffs all ice monkeys on screen with +50% attack speed for 10 seconds.

Strategy

Absolute Zero is one of the most potent slowdowns in the whole game. The faster and longer freezing ability and its aura's MOAB-Class slowdown, combined with its low T5 cost, makes it excel at stalling bloons. The extreme freezing pierce and the secondary freeze across the screen also minimize non-blimp leaks. Provided the defenses don't have trouble against Frozen, this is an excellent support tower to add in CHIMPS mode. Absolute Zero also works as an end-of-round staller, so other abilities can cool off before the next round. The 50% attack speed buff to all Ice Monkeys with the ability helps with certain niche strategies such as Icicles spam or boosting the attack speed of Ice Monkeys affected by Total Transformation.

If placed on water, it synergizes particularly with Energizer to halve its ability cooldown, for more than 100% uptime, and also great with Brickell strategies.

Despite its increased pierce that makes 0-5-2 very reliable at catching leaking Bloons, 1-5-0 is the recommended crosspath for the Permafrost benefits and innate ability to freeze DDTs, though 2-5-0 is necessary when transitioning from Snowstorm. However, 0-5-1 is useful for increasing the range of the frozen water effect, providing the largest amount of frozen water out of any Ice Monkey and allowing many land towers to be placed.
