Overclock is the Engineer Monkey's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It unlocks an Activated Ability that allows the player to temporarily buff a selected tower's attack speed (increases range if used on a Monkey Village) for a short time. The duration of the buff depends on the target's highest upgrade tier. Additionally, this upgrade increases the base pierce of the Engineer Monkey's main attack by 12 (15 in total) and increases the pierce of its Cleansing Foam puddles by 4 (14 in total). It also doubles the projectile speed of its nails, but halves their lifespan, so their maximum travel distance remains the same.
Upon activation, Overclock allows the player to select a tower. It cannot select Sentries. After selecting a tower, it applies a temporary buff to it that reduces its attack cooldown by 40%, effectively increasing its attack speed by ~66.7%. Since the banana production of Banana Farms is considered an attack, it also increases the number of bananas (or packets of cash in the case of Monkey Banks and Marketplaces) they produce by 66.7%, rounded up to the nearest whole number. If used on a Monkey Village, it increases its range by 10%. The attack speed buff also affects Primary Expertise, but not Monkeyopolis.
The duration of the buff depends on the target's current upgrade tier and does not change if it gains an upgrade while the buff is active:
Tier 5: 30 seconds (also applies to Heroes regardless of level)
Tier 4: 45 seconds
Tier 3 and below: 60 seconds
This ability has a 45-second cooldown, which does not start until after the player selects a tower. This ability can be used during the break between rounds.
Overclock is a great support tower when one's strategy depends on few strong towers rather than many weak towers. It provides an average ~44.44% DPS boost on tier 5 towers and has full uptime on tier 4 towers. Thus, it has significant value with high-DPS towers such as Dark Champion, or an Orca or Tyrannosaurus Rex with max beast power. While it does not have full uptime on Heroes, requiring timing with one Overclock, the ability can help improve DPS-centered Heroes such as Adora and Captain Churchill, as well as those that have blimp knockback such as level 5+ Pat Fusty and level 5+ Rosalia.
Overclock is also a key tower when farming, particularly for Boss events. Since Banana Research Facility (BRF) and Banana Central generate 5 banana crates per round, when overclocked they generate 9 crates as , which rounds up to 9. Therefore an Overclock constitutes an 80% buff to cash generation for these Farms, making Overclocked BRFs and Banana Central more efficient than BRFs and Banana Central alone. It is not recommended to use Overclock on Monkey Wall Street as it does not affect its end-of-round cash bonus. The table below shows the increase in production for different Banana Farms:

The range buff it provides Villages is beneficial for Monkey City, allowing the upgraded Monkeyopolis to fit more Farms in range, and expanding coverage of its own buffs. If Overclocking would cover the range of at least 5 extra BRFs, applying it on Monkey City would earn more than on one BRF (assuming they're not income-buffed by other sources such as Fertilizer); the Monkey City buff generates +100% income across the five or more BRFs, compared to +80% income from one BRF. Overclock and Bounty Hunter's Take Aim, and nearby Village are the main range buffs to maximize Village range for income purposes.
Crosspaths aren't necessary, since none of its crosspaths affect its ability, but provides more value for its foam due to the extra pierce.
Versus Lych, its start-of-round speed boost may cause Lych to re-gain its Regrow property, but the foam can be used to remove it. Target only towers that are far away from Lych, and if the target must be closer or it's Tier 5 Lych then time the ability just after Lych does the "suction" animation (indicating that Lych has recently absorbed buffs every 12 seconds).

Continuing our efforts to make crosspaths meaningful and fit the style of each path more solidly, a number of crosspath and base level balance shifts were made. — Update notes

Ability: active buff state is now included in save files
1-4-0, 2-4-0
Larger Service Area crosspath now increases Sentry range by +4
Engineer is quite poor in terms of crosspathing, so we’ve added crosspath benefits to Cleansing Foam [...] We’ve been somewhat unhappy with how Overclock sits in the game for a while and especially how the interaction with tower cost causes levelling heroes naturally to be far advantageous over purchasing upgrades when this is already underused. We have made an attempt to rework these issues by moving it to a tier-based system rather than price. — Update notes

Overall cost reduced by $150 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
Ability: Duration now depends on the target's highest upgrade tier instead of total cost
105s for tier 0 (new)
90s for tier 1 (new)
75s for tier 2 (new)
60s for tier 3 (instead of $0–$15,000 cost)
45s for tier 4 (instead of $15,001–$40,000 cost)
30s for tier 5 (instead of $40,001+ cost)
Hero tiers count as their current level divided by 4, rounded down
0-4-1, 0-4-2
Foam attack: Pierce with Oversized Nails increased ― 10 → 15
we have also re-envisioned the ‘Larger Service’ crosspath as giving smarter service as well in the form for targeting for Bloontrap & Cleansing Foam — Update notes

Overall cost reduced by $50 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
The MOAB offense of top path lacks for a mainly dps tower that is quite complex to use [...] the 320 crosspath will now be able to double dip on the Fortified & MOAB damage bonuses that it gains. Cleansing Foam is only seeing a slight tweak to help it be more viable if you want to attempt it as 'main camo detection’, and this mainly fixes some issues in ABR games allowing it to catch quick initial camo spawns. — Update notes

All attacks: Now gains 1s of 4x rate on round start
1-4-0, 2-4-0
Sentry: Deconstruction's bonus damage to MOAB-Class Bloons and Fortified Bloons are no longer mutually exclusive
Overclock's considerable longer duration benefit on lower tiers currently serves little purpose and only leads to weirdness in upgrading boosted towers, so for now we’d rather minimize this on the early cases that don’t serve much purpose . — Update notes

Ability: no longer has a 1.75× duration bonus for tier 0 towers
Ability: no longer has a 1.5× duration bonus for tier 1 towers
Ability: no longer has a 1.25× duration bonus for tier 2 towers
Ability: Lasts 60s on heroes regardless of level (undocumented)
This was becoming annoying screen clutter with large numbers of sentries, and feels unnecessary when you can overclock the engineer itself to create more sentries instead. — Update notes

Overclock and Ultraboost abilities no longer target Engineer sentries
Really only one major change here; a rebalancing to how the 2xx Crosspath applies across various engineer upgrades, and some base stats being changed to accommodate fitting this. — Update notes
Overclock’s Village range bonus always felt like an odd special case, and now that there is a proper dedicated range bonus ability the combined range this grants for villages ended up being overpowered, after consideration we didn’t want to jump straight to deleting the ultraboost stacking tech here but have lowered the range bonuses from Overclock. — Update notes
”
Overclock buff: Range bonus on Monkey Villages decreased ― +25% → +10%
Note: Also affects the temporary Ultraboost effect. Does not affect Paragon's Power Glove (+25%)
Overclock’s duration on level 20 heroes has been excessive; we’re cutting the jank and standardizing to a consistent 30s duration for heroes, with Ultraboost still providing the full 60s. — Update notes
”
Overclock: Buff duration on Heroes decreased at all levels ― 60s → 30s
