Dragon's Breath is an all-around great T3 for general damage, with only a weakness to Purples, very dense bloons, and only moderate single-target damage.
Dragon's Breath is an all-round damage tower that performs similarly against blimps and normal Bloons, carrying the early-game but with low range and pierce going into mid-game. It works well on easier maps, but struggles on harder maps compared to more specialized towers for either type of Bloon. The fire breath deals most of its damage against single targets, while Wall of Fire contributes more damage against bloon rushes. Dragon's Breath does replace the Wall of Fire more often compared to lower tiers, limiting the tower's weakness at the start of rounds. The triple fireballs offer bursts that work well with its other attacks, but still too slow and inconsistent for reliable grouped damage.

Crosspaths are beneficial to its strength, but not detrimental without them. Top crosspaths have more overall damage and higher synergy with external buffs. On the other hand, bottom crosspaths are preferred against dense bloons, and also if extra range and innate camo detection are more important.
It does not synergize well enough with {{BTD6|Berserker Brew}} to justify the buff for its cost, unless specifically playing around the Walls of Fire. 0-3-2 is the more common crosspath, as it is much stronger for the low pierce breath attack and gives camo and extra range, while 1-3-0 or 2-3-0 have more control over Wall of Fire, and can have two Walls of Fire active at once for extra damage thanks to the longer duration. 1-3-0 is enough if only wanting the improved Wall of Fire, while 2-3-0 can be worth it for the +1 damage triple fireballs.

Dragon's Breath is the Wizard Monkey's path 2 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants Wizard Monkey a new flame attack, which deals 2 damage with 3 pierce, and has an attack cooldown of 0.135 seconds. Flames cannot damage Purple Bloons. Flames apply a burn damage-over-time effect which deals 1 damage every 1.5 seconds, and lasts for 3.1 seconds. With Flame Jet Flame Jet, projectile speed is increased by 50%.

This upgrade improves Wizard Monkey's fireball attack, allowing it to fire 3 fireballs per shot instead of 1, spread in a 60 degree angle. It also increases fireball damage from 1 to 3, and increases explosion radius and projectile size. This upgrade also improves the wall of fire attack, reducing its cooldown from 6.5 to 4.5 seconds. It also increases wall of fire's pierce from 10 to 20, and improves its tick rate and pierce refresh interval from 0.15 to 0.1 seconds.

In addition to crosspathing benefits from Wall of Fire, Dragon's Breath receives the following crosspath benefits:

  • Guided Magic doubles lifespan of the fiery breath and allows it to ignore obstacles, but Arcane Blast doesn't affect it.
  • Intense Magic grants +2 pierce (total of 5) to the fiery breath, and double projectile speed (125 to 250).

  • Nerf Fireball: explosion can no longer hit Camo Bloons without Camo detection (bug fix)
  • Changed the visual effects of Dragon's Breath
  • Changed the visual effects of Wall of Fire

1-3-0, 2-3-0
  • Buff Now uses tower targeting priority to guide the Wall of Fire
0-3-1
  • Neutral Intense Magic now grants +5 pierce to Wall of Fire
    • Note: Wall of Fire remains at 20 pierce
Second and third path upgrades get some fine tuning for more internal consistency. We want to make slow tweaks here to bring them into better balance
— Update notes
0-3-1
  • Buff Intense Magic now grants +2 pierce to Dragon's Breath ― 4 → 6
Dragon’s Breath crosspathing has also been finished up along with a considerable boost to scale Dragon’s Breath up against Ceramics.
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $50 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Dragon's Breath attack: Now deals +1 damage to Ceramic
1-3-0
  • Buff Dragon's Breath attack: Projectile lifespan increased ― 0.4s → 0.8s
Some changes have been made to wall of fire to improve race balance in particular
— Update notes
  • Nerf Wall of Fire: Now saves the time remaining on its attack cooldown
  • Nerf Wall of Fire: Now removed when the tower is sold
  • Buff Fireball: damage increased ― 1 → 3
  • Buff Fireball: radius increased ― 10 → 14
Wall of Fire has been reworked in order to cut down on cases of frustrating randomness as well as the initial cooldown on the attack being reduced.
— Update notes
  • Buff Wall of Fire: Initial cooldown reduced ― 5.5s → 1s
  • Neutral
In contrast, Fireball continues to underwhelm, so is seeing an initial buff plus a larger buff at T3.
— Update notes
  • Buff Fireball attack: Attack cooldown reduced ― 3s → 2.2s (attack speed increased by 36.36%)
  • Buff Fireball attack: Damage increased ― 3 → 9
0-3-1, 0-3-2
  • Nerf Intense Magic grants less pierce to Wall of Fire ― +5 → +4
  • Nerf Overall cost increased by $25 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Dragon's Breath: no longer has single-layer damage (undocumented)
  • Buff Fireball: no longer has single-layer damage (undocumented)
  • Buff Wall of Fire: no longer has single-layer damage (undocumented)
Polishing some crosspaths, 130 Dragons Breath is the only crosspath for Guided Magic that doesn't yet attack through walls, and 011 Fireball also does not benefit from having the pierce crosspath
— Update notes
1-3-0, 2-3-0
  • Buff Dragon's Breath: projectile now ignores walls
0-3-1, 0-3-2
  • Buff Fireball: pierce increased ― 15 → 20
Wall of Fire’s exceptional T2 power needs to be moved around for improved crosspathing, along with a slight nerf to Phoenix as it is currently performing too well, and both of these upgrades are shifting some of their power into Dragon’s Breath so it can stand out as more than just a buff to WoF & a stepping stone to Phoenix.
— Update notes
  • Buff Dragon's Breath base damage increased ― 1 → 2
  • Buff Dragon's Breath WoF pierce per tic increased ― 15 → 20
0-3-1, 0-3-2
  • Nerf Wall of Fire pierce per tic reduced ― 19 → 15
  • Buff Dragon's Breath WoF pierce per tick increased ― 19 → 25 (undocumented)
1-3-0, 2-3-0
  • Buff Wall of Fire duration increased ― 4.5s → 5.5s
  • Neutral Wall of Fire no longer auto-targets but gains a target marker (like Cleansing Foam Engineer)
Dragon’s Breath range is being fixed to actually match the tower radius, but now xx2 crosspath will also improve range and can bring it back to what it was.
— Update notes
  • Nerf Flame (Dragon's Breath) attack now matches tower range properly ― 50 → 40
    • Note: xx2 crosspath unchanged
Dragon’s Breath will still be great, just a little less excessively so
— Update notes
  • Nerf Dragon's Breath: attack cooldown increased ― 0.1s → 0.125s
  • Nerf Dragon's Breath: no longer deals +1 damage to Ceramic
  • Nerf Upgrade cost increased ― $3,000 → $3,300
We set up for this Wall of Fire change quite a while ago, however finally it feels that Wall of Fire has cooled off enough to smooth out the curve a little more, granting it seamless uptime with crosspathing and a lower price tag.
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $150 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
1-3-0, 2-3-0
  • Buff Wall of Fire: Duration increased ― 5.5s → 6.5s
Dragon’s Breath is too much of an early powerhouse right now, as the DoT doesn’t care for high rate we’re reducing that rate
— Update notes
  • Nerf Dragon’s Breath attack cooldown increased ― 0.125s → 0.135s
As Fireball becomes very forgotten at higher tiers and is hard to even see at Dragon’s Breath, we’re improving the crosspath and adding even more projectiles at T3 for wider explosive coverage.
— Update notes
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $50 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
  • Buff Fireball: Projectile count increased ― 1 → 3
  • Nerf Dragon's Breath: Pierce reduced ― 4 → 3
  • Nerf Fireball: Damage reduced ― 9 → 3
2-3-0
  • Buff Fireball: Damage increased ― 3 → 4 (undocumented)
0-3-1
  • Buff  Intense Magic pierce bonus to Dragon's Breath increased ― +2 → +3 (undocumented)
    • Note: 031 pierce remains at 6
  • Buff Overall cost reduced by $75 (due to cost changes for previous tiers)
[...] we can justify a QoL buff with Dragon’s Breath’s scaling adjusting to match more crosspath improvements, meaning it will now benefit [... from] bottom path’s projectile speed increase.
— Update notes
0-3-1, 0-3-2
  • Buff Dragon's Breath attack: Projectile speed increased ― 125 units/s → 250 units/s
0-3-1
  • Nerf Dragon's Breath: Pierce bonus is no longer increased compared to x-4-x ― +3 → +2 (bug fix)
    • Note: Pierce reduced from 6 to 5
