Giganotosaurus is very powerful, but has few practical uses. Giganotosaurus's poor single-target damage is outclassed by [[Megalodon]], which lasts longer into [[Freeplay]] and has more efficient damage per dollar and space, including versus [[Boss Bloon]]s. However, its capability to skip blimp layers makes it not a bad choice in [[CHIMPS]]. Its slow attack speed is a nuisance, remaining weak to fast-moving DDTs, MOABs, and clumps of Super Ceramics without its Stomp ability. It has one of the simplest save-ups of any expensive tower thanks to the high strength of [[Tyrannosaurus Rex|T-Rex]].

In the saveup to Giganotosaurus, the maxed T-Rex is typically better than four separate T-Rexes, as the focused damage and blimp layer-skipping are better value than multiple lower-powered T-Rexes, which are only better for the stuns.
