Monkey Pirates is the Monkey Buccaneer's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. With this upgrade, the Monkey Buccaneer shoots three bombs at a time instead of one, its bombs deal 3 damage instead of 2 and deal +5 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons, and its grapes deal 4 damage instead of 3 and deal +2 damage to Ceramic Bloons. This upgrade unlocks the MOAB Takedown Activated Ability, which destroys one MOAB, BFB, DDT (if it has Camo detection), prioritizing the strongest Bloon. It has a cooldown of 45 seconds (40 seconds with Faster Takedowns).

Strategy

Monkey Pirates is a decent T4 for early-to-midgame, breaking clumps of bloons fairly well and being able to hook blimps when needed. Its main attack remains relatively weak for single-target due to the frags not shotgunning, though this issue is somewhat mitigated by the ability. Like other Buccaneers, it is recommended to position it such that it can attack from both sides, which maximizes its popping power. Unlike most T4's, Monkey Pirates transitions relatively smoothly into Pirate Lord, particularly for CHIMPS.

Although less dependent on external buffs compared to Destroyer, Monkey Pirates still appreciates from them. Berserker Brew and Stronger Stimulant pair well with Monkey Pirates due to the low pierce of grapes and Cannon frags. If using Monkey Pirates spam, Permanent Brew and Admiral Brickell are strongly recommended for their strong utilities.

Crosspaths for Monkey Pirates are similar to its T3 Cannon Ship. Faster Firing is recommended for maximum DPS, but Long Range shines for game modes that rely on high pierce, such as Race Events and CT Time Attack. Crow's Nest is recommended when innate Camo detection and DDT-hooking without Camo support is necessary, and Double Shot is unnecessary due to only adding 1 grape. Not crosspathing is only necessary for CT Least Tiers and custom challenges involving the hook ability.
