Ballistic Missile is the Monkey Sub's path 2 tier 3 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants Monkey Sub an additional missile attack that triggers when Bloons pass through its range, regardless of line of sight, or the range of all towers with (Advanced Intel. Each missile does 3 damage with +3 Ceramic damage (or +4 with Breaking Ballistic Breaking Ballistic), +5 MOAB-Class damage, 40 pierce, and an attack cooldown of 1 second. The missiles are shot upwards and land directly on their target ignoring line of sight blockers, similarly to Mortar Monkey's attacks except they also seek their targets. Missiles cannot damage Black Bloons.

This upgrade also increases the range of Monkey Sub by +8 units.

Strategy

Ballistic Missile is a good early-game to mid-game tower for clumped Bloons, thanks to its high pierce and 3 damage. However, it is not recommended to use it as the only damage dealer, due to its inability to damage Black and Zebra Bloons. Ballistic Missile spam with Sub Commander is usable for CHIMPS, but it has fallen behind alternatives (such as Bloon Exclusion Zone and Destroyers + Permanent Brew). 2-3-0 is the recommended crosspath when Advanced Intel is needed to reach all lanes, but 0-3-2 is recommended when the base range is sufficient for partially reaching all lanes.

Ballistic Missile’s 230 crosspath has been in a confusing spot for a while where it functioned different to Advanced Intel, so it has been converted to function with Advanced Intel in the same way that any other Sub upgrade would.

Previously the rate increase to Ballistic Missile from crosspath was reduced due to Airburst having enough value on it’s own. This reason still applies as Airburst provides a significant power boost just on it’s own, so all rate increase has been removed from Airburst and applied directly to the base Ballistic Missile to help crosspath diversity slightly.

Ballistic Missile struggles greatly against standard Bloons since almost all of its power is in the Ceramic/Moab bonus, so we’re also balancing this consistency out with greater damage to standard targets while retaining the same total MOAB-Class power at the cost of pierce.
