Energizer is the Monkey Sub's path 1 tier 5 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. This upgrade allows Monkey Sub to grant a buff to all towers on screen which reduces their ability cooldowns by 20%. For water-based towers within its range, this buff reduces ability cooldowns by 40% instead of 20%. Heroes within its range gain +50% XP from the ends of rounds and sacrifices (not from purchasing levels).

This upgrade also improves Monkey Sub's attack. The pierce of both its decamo and damage auras are increased to 1000, and its damage aura's damage is increased from 1 to 5 with additional +5 Ceramic damage. This upgrade increases the damage of Monkey Sub's darts from 2 to 5 while not submerged, including Airburst Darts with the 5-0-2 crosspath.

Energizer is a multi-purpose tower that excels in certain scenarios. It is the most potent in Freeplay and against Boss Bloons, where its cooldown reduction is essential for towers like Ultraboost and Homeland Defense. In the farming process of these game modes, Energizer is also crucial due to it reducing cooldowns for money generators as well. However, when using Adora in Freeplay, submerging Nautic Siege Core is recommended, making Energizer redundant for the final setup in that scenario.

In other game modes, Energizer's main use is allowing slower-leveling Heroes reach higher levels before Round 100. The Heroes that benefit the most are Admiral Brickell, Psi, Captain Churchill, and Sauda. In particular, Admiral Brickell's powerful Naval Tactics and Mega Mines abilities have their cooldowns nearly halved, making her synergize really well with Energizer. The ability cooldown reduction to towers is a good bonus, but it is not sufficient on its own to justify using Energizer outside of Freeplay and Boss Bloon battles. 5-0-1 is the preferred crosspath, as the extra pierce and Lead damage popping power and bonus from 5-2-0, most of the time, are not favorable and 5-0-1's attack speed allows for better cleanup of Super Ceramic Bloons.

The logic on a Lead crosspath not being required to give Lead popping to an attack based on something weak against Lead has never sat right, so we’re finally sorting that out and making sub a little angrier.

Energizer upgrade offers nothing extra to the reactor sub aside from niche utility buffs, so we have increased the lategame cleanup potential by a large amount to help deal with Super Ceramics.

Similar types of camo reveal like Shimmer/Signal Flare/Embrittlement are all pierce limited, but the Submerge sub has practically infinite pierce while also being extremely cheap with a very fast rate and a T4 that is far better at camo removal than those other towers can reach. Giving this upgrade a more reasonable pierce value brings these more in line and allows for the pierce crosspath to have some potential meaning.

We have come back a number of times to add, fix & balance sub crosspathing, over years of learning though it currently feels messy and we’d like simplification. Heat-Tipped Darts doesn’t increase base sub pierce, so it feels silly to require it for maximum pierce on Submerged subs. Likewise Airburst shouldn’t be required to maximize the rate of submerged subs, instead we’d rather give people an easier way to work with the Airburst attack if they desire to upgrade to it so ‘Submerge’ is moving to a new Tower Special rather than target priority.
