Summon Phoenix
|
Summon Phoenix ability: Powerful phoenix wreaks Bloon havoc for 20 seconds.
|
Summon Phoenix is the Wizard Monkey's path 2 tier 4 upgrade in Bloons TD 6. It grants Wizard Monkey a Summon Phoenix ability which summons a phoenix sub-tower for 20 seconds. The phoenix flies in a circle in the center of the screen, and attacks Bloons with flames that deal 5 damage, have 8 pierce, and an attack cooldown of 0.1 seconds. The phoenix has infinite range and ignores line-of-sight blockers. The phoenix's flames cannot damage Purple Bloons. This ability has a cooldown of 45 seconds and an initial cooldown of 15 seconds.
This upgrade also allows Wizard Monkey's dragon's breath attack to fire 2 flames per shot instead of 1, with a 10 degree spread.
Crosspathing interactions are identical to its predecessor, with extra benefits to the phoenix:
- Guided Magic — Phoenix sub-tower projectiles gain light seeking similar to the Wizard's bolt attack.
- Monkey Sense — Phoenix sub-tower gains the innate ability to pop Camo Bloons.

Summon Phoenix has a decent high-cost mid-game saveup that can carry most non-Purple rounds until Round 63, where the Phoenix can only partially handle up to 2 of its waves. The improved Dragon's Breath is beneficial for quicker damage to single targets such as MOABs and BFBs, allowing the main Wizard to hold off longer against them before resorting to the Phoenix ability for handling global cleanup. However, both attacks fall off in the late-game, where it's mostly relegated to extra single-target damage.
Crosspathing is beneficial for the Summon Phoenix, mainly for its main attacks, but currently limited for the Phoenix ability. Guided Magic aids accuracy of every attack and allows its main attacks to ignore Line of Sight, while Intense Magic is the pierce crosspath for all but the Phoenix. Arcane Blast only affects the damage of the triple fireballs, which should be ignored if costs are a concern. Monkey Sense grants innate camo detection for the Phoenix as well as extra range for the main Wizard.

Wall of Fire’s exceptional T2 power needs to be moved around for improved crosspathing, along with a slight nerf to Phoenix as it is currently performing too well, and both of these upgrades are shifting some of their power into Dragon’s Breath so it can stand out as more than just a buff to WoF & a stepping stone to Phoenix. — Update notes

Middle path T4 Phoenix continues carrying rounds quite well for a long period of the game, as a light nerf here we’re taking away the free camo detection that Phoenix used to get, given the tower has a camo crosspath it could go for to properly inherit this onto the phoenix anyway. — Update notes

We set up for this Wall of Fire change quite a while ago, however finally it feels that Wall of Fire has cooled off enough to smooth out the curve a little more, granting it seamless uptime with crosspathing and a lower price tag. Summon Phoenix price is increasing more along with a larger reduction in cost to the Wizard Lord Phoenix, however Phoenix will now also be able to gain seeking frontal breath attacks with Guided Magic crosspathing. — Update notes

Wizard is feeling effective across the board with nice use cases across each path so there was hesitation about making changes. Nevertheless we felt there were important changes here with DoT in mind, so there’s now new scaling on the Dragon’s Breath attack improving damage over time on higher upgrades and a for-fun change to the projectile count assisting in spreading flames to many targets. We understand we are affecting current balance but it’s done in the name of fun and for Wizard fans. — Update notes
